I get the point of this, and I agree with it, but it's incorrect about the free healthcare. Members of Congress, like all Federal employees, do have tax payer subsidized health insurance. But they also have to pay a portion of the insurance out of their paycheck.

Their paycheck... that they get from tax payer money.

The same of which could be said for teachers, firefighters, police officers, etc. It isn't tax payer money once it goes into their paycheck, it's their money.

Yes, but once your paid it's your money. Since it's deducted from their paychecks it's not free.

You know, there's something I've always wondered about Pinocchio: If he were to verbalize a paradox ("This sentence is false.", etc.), would his nose rapidly grow and shrink over and over again?

That may be the single gayest thing I have ever read on this board. Or the old one. ;)

...Apparently there's an entire Wikipedia page dedicated to that.

So apparently Pinocchio's nose would grow even if he was telling the truth.

... Huh.

I'm so glad we have a page devoted entirely to that. And it's longer than a few other articles I've seen.

I am pretty tired so I'm not sure, but was this solution mentioned?:  Where Pinocchio says 'my nose grows now', it does not grow at that exact moment (now) rendering the statement false, therefore his nose grows briefly afterwards?

And if he says 'My nose will grow', without the specific time frame (now), that could easily mean that he will lie at some point in the future, making the statement true, without any contradiction.  Which I think was mentioned briefly.

The simple solution to the Pinocchio problem is...

He told a lie, his nose grows.  The lie becomes a truth, so the nose shrinks back to normal.  And then it stays normal until he tells his next lie.

After all, Pinoch didn't say "My nose is now going to grow and stay long".  Just that it'd grow.  Nothing about it shrinking again.

There.  It took me two lines to do what that entire wikipedia article fretted about.
