I don't think the comic strip B.C. counts because it sounds like it was always a Wingnut comic strip.

The biggest reasons I see for guys turning Wingnut is becoming a born-again Christian, like Kirk Cameron. The only famous born-again Christians that come to mind who aren't Wingnuts are Alice Cooper and Jimmy Carter.

What about George Wallace?  He became a much better person after being born-again.

You have a point, as I said to the Iron guy, "Not everything is black & white", some actually become kinder and better people as "Born Agains".

My beef is not against Conservatives & Born-Agains.....my beef is with the Wingnuts among them. There's nothing inherently wrong with Conservatism per se, it's Wingnuttery that's the problem.

A Conservative can be Progressive, too.

Both Left & Right have their Progressive & Regressive versions. The political/Moral/Ethical/Ideological spectrum is pretty complex.

I got an example of "From Right to Left", that kid that was hailed as a big "wonderkind" by the GOP. He did a speech at that Super-PAC thingy several years back when he was in his teens. Now, he's a total Lefty.

Not a celeb but a public figure of sorts.

There's also Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs, which from 2002-2007 rivaled Free Republic in its wingnuttery.

I'll look him up. He saw the light? Cool!
