Stat 2- does that include cheating?

I was thinking that, too. I'd think cheating on a partner would be very stressful, which would contribute to depression.

As long as it's not like that Robot Chicken ep with Snuggles the corporate mascot...Because that would be an act of cruelty to anybody.

Wishing you have waited longer != wishing you had waited until marriage.

As for the third stat, I have to wonder if they're referring to divorce rates. If that's the case, I'd speculate that those who believe in waiting for marriage are more likely to be religious, and therefore more likely to oppose divorce.

Oh, and: Citation needed.

I thought the very same thing about the suicide statistic as well. People who 'wait for marriage' are more likely to be religious and most Christian denominations (and Judaism, as well, though I'm not sure what Islam says about it) have major rules against suicide. It doesn't mean the married virgins are less depressed, it just means they're less likely to off themselves because of it out of fear of burning forever in hellfire.

Isn't divorce rate higher where abstinence only is more predominant? Perhaps that's what they mean by "success rate". Purity increase your success rate of screwing your marriage.
That may be the single gayest thing I have ever read on this board. Or the old one. ;)

That sounds like an awesome catchphrase.

Wishing you have waited longer != wishing you had waited until marriage.

That's a point I can never seem to get across to my mother whenever we talk about this kinda shit.  Yes, you fucked up because you didn't wait long enough before tying the knot and bearing that man's kids...but, number one, I staunchly refuse to sire any children.  I will wear protection unless its proven that I am 100% sterile.  Secondly, I may be a horny motherfucker, but I have control over my body, thankyouverymuch.

In short, marriage does NOT cure stupidity.

Okay, that thing is seriously kind of creepy.  Also, the "stats" at the end of the second one made me laugh because you know they were just trying to pull intimidating facts out of their ass.

Abstinence only tends to lead to couples getting married earlier so they can have sex without offending god. Typically, this translates into said couples not being ready for the kind of commitment/burden of marriage and the inevitable child(ren) that follow as a result. So yes, divorce is more likely when the couple isn't mature enough to deal with being married.

Somehow this is creepier than Pedobear.

Also, I know this is completely inappropriate and cruel, but the guy in that first video? Set my gaydar off like you would not believe. Of COURSE he doesn't want to go inside with a girl!

So it wasn't just me then.
That bear is pretty damn scary. I cant help but feel that you could probably have an almost identical advert but with pedobear, it would be less creepy to watch, but have a deeper more disturbing meaning. Lastly, those stats really need some kind of disclaimer for bullshit. Couples that wait for marriage have a horrendously high divorce rate. What makes them worse is that when their families fall apart its generally when they have a young child which just makes it all the more tragic. (Of course they normally have a kid because they don't practice any kind of birth control because such things would be a sin.)

I'd respond with PAGANBEAR! A sweet, snuggly ursine fuzzball with cute little horns & panpipes who'll punch out Puritybear & say to the guy "GO FOR IT! Here's some condoms!".

Because the uploaders will probably delete it, here's my comment to Purity Bear:

"For the record:  I deeply regret the night I lost my virginity.  The young man in question was horribly bad for me, and did not love me.

However, I have had other boyfriends, and yes, I have had sex with most of them.  I do not regret this; I remember them fondly and have shared an experience with them that we will never forget.  Best of all, I know how to breach the topics of sex and physical love (among TONS of others!) with my future spouse.  I did not know this when I was a virgin."

This is my comment, which is "pending approval":

I lost my virginity at the best time for me, with someone I plan to marry in the future. Losing my virginity to him before we got married did not affect our relationship - if anything, it strengthened it and reaffirmed our commitment to each other for reasons other than us both wanting to have sex. Believe what you want to believe, but know that what you preach is not right for everyone.

THIS

Where I used to work there was a girl who was very prominent in displaying her Christianity, cross necklace, earrings etc. She was also big on her abstinence, telling everyone who asked if she had a boyfriend how she was 'saving it for marriage'. She even had a purity ring, almost unheard of in the UK.

She got a boyfriend and married at the age of 19. Not saying it won't last, but you've got to wonder if they'd have rushed into it like that  if Hector the one eyed trouser snake got a look in once in a while.
