You're right. You said "don't laugh at someone you meet for being fat" and I reacted to "no more far jokes." Sorry about that. Bullying is definitely wrong.

is it okay if I vent about an annoying customer at work today?

I'm just doing my job and this guy walks up to me with an aggressively friendly demeanour and he starts whining about how there are too many immigrants shopping at the store. He points out one Muslim woman putting her groceries away and starts talk about how she probably supports ISIS, in that way wear they act like they're whispering but they're saying it loudly enough she could have heard him. Now I'm at work so I don't think I can just tell a customer to go fuck himself, so I just try to politely brush him off and tell him "Look I don't agree with this, I'm working let me do my job." And he throws up his hands "Okay forget I said anything" and finally leaves.

Then about half an hour later he comes back and starts following me around pestering me in the same overly friendly way saying "Hey I'm a Nice Guy. I'm not a bad person. I like animals. I was just messing with you. I'm a Nice Guy. I like animals. I'm nice to animals" until I finally got him take a hint and leave.

What the fuck?

Aah, the wannabe racist salesman.  Trying to win people over using a friendly face while having none of the requisite charisma.

My database class is driving me to need a lot more liquor than normal.  We're using ReactJS which, if you're a person with any form of pattern recognition, knows that its just another flavour-of-the-month Javascript bullshit framework like AngularJS and Node.js before it.  My professor put up some bullshit "data" (read, coloured bars with vague categories with nothing actually defining them in any way, shape, or form) about how the "best" (again, a term which he refused to define) startups used React.

Fuck, even ignoring all that, React is growing to be almost impossible to use.  So, let's take ASP.Net; with it, you can just press F5 in Visual Studio and, boom, you get a live debug version of your site.  Easiest fucking thing in the god damned world.  How's React compare?  I seem to need at least two different software packages (Node.js and React-specific bullshit), a godforsaken command-line application (those should be fucking banned, GUIs were made for a fucking reason), and it still doesn't give a live, local version of the site I can test via localhost.  It gave me some QR code bullshit to scan on my phone to get the testing version of my site.  Oh, and you wanna know what?  The bullshit doesn't even fucking work.

I'm not even three full weeks into this class, and its already starting to be the biggest fucking headache I've ever had outside god damned theory of fucking computation.

TL;DR: ReactJS is bullshit, do not use it.

So, I find a band with a song that I consider awesome and decide to check their other songs...

Unfortunately although the tunes sound nice I am mainly interested in what lyrics and what story the song tells...

Well, their discography has masterpieces like "I wanted to be a mean, tough gunslinger but now I'm lying on the cold concrete with a bullet in my head." "I am still angry that South lost the civil war and now we are marching back north for victory or death." "I am going to drink myself to death." "I am going to drink myself to death part II." "I am going to drink myself to death part III." "I know that you got a restraining order for me and technically we are cousings but if you won't let me fuck you I might as well kill the both of us." "I am going to drink myself to death, no for real this time." "Let me tell you all about the latest barfight I got into while trying to drink myself to death."

And so on.

Well, at least they have one great song (that also ends with the singer dying) and one or two more decent ones.
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. :)  I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches.  Tingly!

Surely, they're a country music parody band.

...Right?

I'm not 100% sure if it's parody:

Seems to me that if they're not outright taking the piss, they're at the very very least self aware.

That said, I have to agree that they're pretty good, for whatever that's worth.

Still with the "Nazis are leftists" bullshit.

Allow me to explain: The Nazis WERE leftists at one point. That's why the party has the world "socialist" in the name. A lot of the agitators and activists in the party were socialists and they helped Nazis rise to power. Then the powers that be got scared and Hitler and his inner circle made a deal. The leftists were purged from the party, many outright murdered in what is known as the "Night of the long knives."

After that the Nazis stopped promoting any socialist agendas.

So yes, there was a time when Nazis were lefists because leftists had joined forces with populist racists and as a result got a knife in the back (literally) because the racist populists only cared about power and were willing to sell all the ideals they had just five minutes earlier claimed to  hold dear.

I generally like my AV, but whenever it does a program update (not just a definitions update) it spontaneously reboots my computer.

Thankfully it doesn't do those too often, but fuck it's annoying when it happens.

People who complain about MTV not running music videos any more. We have Youtube nowadays, why the fuck would anyone want to watch music videos on TV?

Two reasons:

It's supposed to be a music channel, and the main form of video music is the, well, music video.

If you just watch stuff on YouTube, you could be missing any number of things that you might well like but just don't get exposed to. If MTV played music videos from time to time, you could see one that you might never have found on your own but end up liking.

That's what playlists are for. Just pick one that more or less covers your taste in music and see what you get. While I realise your mileage may vary, I've personally discovered far more songs I like that way than I ever did on TV. Not to mention, I don't have to waste time sitting through songs I don't like.

When Americans say, "We can't do government-run health care, look at the VA!"

The VA combines the worst aspects of single-provider with the worst aspects of private insurer networks. How about you try single-payer?

A while back on this thread Askold was talking about Star Wars fans who take the empire's side.

I was reminded of that because I recently came across Steven Universe fans who genuinely think the Diamonds are good and Rose Quartz is evil for rebelling against them to save the earth.  (For anyone who doesn't watch Steven Universe the Diamonds are the rulers of an imperialistic slave empire that tried to destroy the earth in the distant past but were foiled by Rose Quartz's started a rebellion to prevent the destruction of the human race.)

I know there's a frighteningly large number of people who don't care about genocide or mass murder if it happens to someone else, but I would have assumed everyone thought genocide was bad if they'd be on the receiving end.
