Dumb things the Romney/Ryan campaigns does
« on: September 06, 2012, 04:25:18 pm »
This thread will be like the Stupid Thing Rick Santorum Says thread. It will serve as a catch-all for the little stupid things that the Romney/Ryan campaign is doing. Like lying about "the average person":

http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/09/rnc-staffer-plays-obama-supporter-in-gop-ad.php

Quote
Republicans debuted a new ad Thursday in which a frustrated former Obama supporter expresses her disappointment with the president. The only problem: The woman in the video is actually an RNC staffer.

The new ad features Republican National Committee Director of Hispanic Outreach Bettina Inclan, who in the ad purports to be an average woman voter who supported Obama in 2008. She describes her disillusionment with the president in the ad as a romantic relationship gone awry.
“You’re just not he person I thought you were,” Inclan says in the ad, addressing a cardboard cutout of Obama. Inclan lists out-of-control spending and Obama’s penchant for hanging out with Hollywood celebrities as reasons for the break-up. “It’s not me, it’s you. I think we should just be friends.”

The ad asks people to share why they’re “breaking up” with Obama.

The RNC says its ad, which first appeared on television Thursday is not dishonest.

Apparently, Romney thinks we're stupid enough to not know who is on his committee. Lol at trying to make up a person who is disillusioned.

I think it was meant to be a counter to the "Republican Women for Obama" ad.

What's funny about it, though, is that I'm pretty sure those women in the RWfO ad were actually Republican Women, but the right wingers couldn't possibly conceive of that -- they HAD to be democrats.  So, naturally, they "play dirty" too.

And the sad thing is, their followers will buy it hook line and sinker.

so apparently Mitts doesn't know that LGBT people have families:
http://thinkprogress.org/lgbt/2012/09/11/831201/romneys-insensitivity-to-lgbt-people-i-didnt-know-you-had-families/

Quote
David Wilson and Julie Goodridge, two of the plaintiffs whose case led to the legalization of marriage equality in Massachusetts, described meeting with Romney to discuss their experiences. According to Wilson, “it was like talking to a robot. No expression, no feeling.” At one point, Romney remarked, “I didn’t know you had families.” Goodridge recalls her final exchange with the governor, which proved to her that he had “no capacity for empathy”:
Quote
GOODRIDGE: Governor Romney, tell me — what would you suggest I say to my 8 year-old daughter about why her mommy and her ma can’t get married because you, the governor of her state, are going to block our marriage?
ROMNEY: I don’t really care what you tell your adopted daughter. Why don’t you just tell her the same thing you’ve been telling her the last eight years
.

Can I just say that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are both narcissistic assholes? Because that's all I want to say about them.

While not directly from the Romney/Ryan campaign itself, it does come from a right-wing rag that supports them:

And conservatives were so aghast that Obama's slogan this year is "Forward"...

You know the funny thing is that if that was a cover of liberal magazine, endorsing Obama, the first thing is that conservatives would scream is SOCIALISM!!! COMMIE!!. I'm glad this was caught.

Maybe they're trying to tell us something about the real relationship between Romney and Ryan...

Oh my, Mittens just shot himself in the foot. In a speech to donors he trashed Obama supporters by accusing them of being perpetually dependant on the government for assistance and of harboring a victim mentality.

Oh my, Mittens just shot himself in the foot. In a speech to donors he trashed Obama supporters by accusing them of being perpetually dependant on the government for assistance and of harboring a victim mentality.

What he said:

Quote
There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them.

…my job is is not to worry about those people.

He said 47% of the country are on welfare and don't pay taxes. lol, he's one to talk.

I guess he's trying to get the randroid vote...I'm really sick of this "people don't take personal responsibility of their own lives anymore" bs. As someone who was on unemployment for almost 2 years, and hated every moment of it. All I have to say is GO FUCK OFF!! I filled out tons of applications every fucking week, but to you, I was sitting on my ass doing nothing, because you live in a fucking fantasy land, where we can just pick jobs off a tree. Also, we could swich to a regressive tax system, and these idiots would still bitch about people not paying taxes.

Wow, I'd be way more willing to take the economic risk of investing in my own business if I knew there was no social safety net should my business fail.

Actually if you follow the link provided by Mediaite that goes to Buzzfeed, it...it gets worse.

I actually feel a little bit sorry for Romney.  He is not as stupid as his campaign speeches make him seem.  But he is a puppet dancing on the strings of those more powerful than he is, and he is trying to appeal to voters who otherwise are uninterested in him.

Romney as president would probably not be a disaster.  I lived in Massachusetts when he was governor.  He is a competent manager.  That's probably the only positive thing I can say about him.  He's a semi-likable guy who knows how to run a large organization.  He couldn't possibly fuck up as badly as Bush the Younger did.

That's not an argument in favor of voting for Romney/Ryan 2012.  It's just my attempt at an unbiased assessment of the man.  His campaign has sucked, his choice for VP is detestable, and he hasn't voiced any real plans to fix the economy or end the war in Afghanistan.  Only 1.5 out of those three are true for Obama--his campaign has been OK but nothing great, he also has no real plans, and Joe Biden is not great but still harmless enough for me.

Obama is the less bad candidate, and I will be voting for him on the "better the Devil I know" ticket.
