Is Warp Drive Possible?

I find this really interesting, and I wonder if they'll be able to develop this kind of technology in my lifetime. Travelling to the moon was impressive enough; imagine witnessing man's first journey outside of our solar system. Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?

It is cool to imagine what humanity could do in the future.  I think faster than light travel maybe possible and might very well be in our (humanities) future.

And since the Prime Directive prohibits interfering with civilizations below the warp drive level, maybe if we get this figured out the aliens will finally contact us.

If this is indeed in the future, who thinks there'll be a global shitstorm over whether to call it either warp speed or hyperspace?

Do what I did in a original story I wrote ages ago.  Hyperwarp.

EDIT:  Actually, if you want to be more fandom-inclusive it could be called Hyperwarptransvortexschismsliding.

I prefer Mass Effect's FTL travel.

I'd like to learn logic and philosophy with a Vulcan.

I prefer Mass Effect's FTL travel.

Considering what happened after (where we met the creators of the Mass Rekays), I think warp or hyperdrive is safer.

Of course, if you left Earth, it wouldn't be the same when you got back, but hey getting to know an alien species would be awesome, depending on how.

(Am I the only one whose mind immediately jumped in the gutter at the thought of alien contact?)
