Alt-Right
« on: March 03, 2017, 03:03:36 pm »
Hey, looks like we don't have a thread for this bunch of rabid raccoons yet, so I decided to make one.

Let's start with some recent news: http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/politics/2017/02/cpac_invented_an_alternate_history_of_the_alt_right.html

Quote
Shortly after the conference began on Thursday, Dan Schneider, executive director of the American Conservative Union—the group that puts on CPAC—gave a speech denouncing the alt-right as left-wing infiltrators. “There is a sinister organization that is trying to worm its way into our ranks,” he said, arguing that the term “alt-right” had been “hijacked” by a “hate-filled left-wing fascist group.”

So the Alt-Right name actually means that they are leftists?

Quote
Schneider referred specifically to the conference in November where Spencer, standing before a giddy crowd of clean-cut racists, gave a Nazi salute and said, “Heil Trump, heil our people, heil victory!” Schneider’s argument was similar to the one Jonah Goldberg made in his risible book Liberal Fascism: Fascists are inherently left-wing because they believe in government power. (Apparently this is true even when they’re hailing the government power to crush the left.) “Hateful left-wing fascists are not like anybody here,” Schneider said.

Oh, now it makes sense. They are leftists because they are Nazis.

I wonder how the Alt-Right feels now that they've been dumped by the GOP?
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. :)  I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches.  Tingly!

The no true Scotsman fallacy is in full effect in this one.
They can't be part of us because they're Nazis and Nazis are bad, so they must be liberals. Cause Liberals are bad. I mean Liberals are all for equality and personal freedoms and the Nazis were all for the eradication of certain races and strong nationalism see it's like the same thing.

We only are just now getting a thread on them?  Wow.  My opinion is that they're basically a living contradiction- they claim to be the antithesis of PC culture, but are too cowardly to call themselves what they are (nazis) and respond to differing viewpoints by getting offended and shouting but not making any kind of coherent argument.
It's me, the little fancy kitten

They make fun of SJWs and safe spaces, when in fact they are their own brand of SJW for white people, and have their own safe spaces to hang out on like /pol/, Breitbart and what ever not banned subreddit they're on.

Ex-Anonymous edgelords. How many of them are even old enough to vote?

Buzzfeed did a dictionary of dolt-right terms here.

By far the most revealing meme was this one for NEETS (Not in Education, Employment, or Training.)

See, the true cognoscenti are those that never leave mummies basement to stop playing vidya gaemz and trolling.

And now an alt-righter is running for office in Virginia and wants to legalize child porn and marital rape. What a wonderful world. /s

Don't forget that that guy is a Libertarian as well.

Meanwhile elsewhere: https://lareviewofbooks.org/article/out-gay-alt-right-the-two-milos/

Quote
But that was just the beginning of the outrage. Rogan went on to press Yiannopoulos further on the subject of pedophilia. He asked if Milo had ever hung out at any of X-Men director Bryan Singer’s alleged parties. This is where the exchange got really sick. Yiannopoulos started talking, at length, about parties he’d been to in Hollywood — parties where the media elite engaged in unprotected sex with underage boys. Every time Rogan asked him to name names, Milo deferred, saying that he “practices discretion.” This is the same Milo who, at his college speeches, singles out students in the audience in order to ridicule them in front of his adoring fans, the same man who says transgendered women should not be allowed in the restrooms comporting with their gender identity, knowing full well he’s exposing them to further victimization. This same man was claiming to practice discretion for pedophiles who also happen to be powerful Hollywood executives. Milo, who has such a bad poker face, couldn’t hide the fact that he was gloating about the sense of privilege he feels to be welcomed into the company of these elite creeps.

...And this is the person they choose to follow.

Considering how many factual errors that glossary makes, I don't think it's very credible.

I think somebody should check his basement. We might have another Ariel Castro on our hands.

Considering how you've claimed but cited none of said alleged factual errors I think your statement has the credibility of "all experts agree".

Or at least as much credibility as dear departed forumites Ultimate Paragon and Dynamic Dragon.

But that's none of my business.

I play WoW, and I know they got the Alliance-Horde thing backwards. It's Alliance players who read Horde "lol" as "kek". The other way around, it's "bur". That's just the one that stood out to me most.

But 'kek' is still 'lol'. So the definition in the glossary is correct but there is an error in the origin. Makes me lose all faith in the glossary. Or are you going to suggest we go to 8chan to check it out for ourselves?

Sending a premptive letter to our local police service to reassure them that we aren't stalking/doxxing, part of a Nazi terrorist crew or fapping to things that are illegal to fap to.

You really want to trust an article with such an obvious and easily correctable mistake? Alright, your funeral.
