This is such bullshit. Teachers don't get paid enough in my opinion. This nonsense about cutting their salary will only discourage people from wanting to be teachers.
On the flip side, some people want to be teachers for entirely the wrong reasons (pedophilia, ephebophilia, desire to control others), but strict codes of conduct when earning one's certification tend to mitigate this aspect quite a bit.
The sad thing is, you get an education, jump through all sorts of hoops to get the job, and then you're worked as hard and paid roughly as much as the manager at your local shoe store.
