Most people I have seen in the comments section are disgusted by Josh's and his parents' actions and rightfully so. Once a while you'll see a person, while not necessarily agreeing with Josh's actions whatsoever, state something along the lines of, "Who are we to judge?", or "Josh asked for forgiveness and admitted wrongdoing, got help, and was forgiven. Why can't we move on?", or even, "Look how everyone is so willing to pounce on Josh because he's Christian, but if he were anything else, it wouldn't be this bad." Then, there's the types of articles and comments written by people like what the_ignored linked.
As more and more details emerge, we're learning how the parents basically tried to cover up the crime and skirt around having to deal with law enforcement. This scandal has once again opened the lid on the world of the Independent Fundamentalist Baptist (IFB) church culture. To the Duggars, this scandal is a Pandora's Box that cannot be reclosed. Their "clean and wholesome" image has forever been tarnished by the scandal, and if their show somehow doesn't get axed, they won't be viewed the same way ever again.
The image the family had seemed too "perfect" for a "reality" show, and many critics were looking for that "A-HA! Gotcha!" moment from outside the show. Place that with the Duggar's anti-LGBT activism, especially with their rhetoric about how the LGBT community are all supposedly sexual predators, and the details of the scandal, the response was going to be as brutal and visceral as you can expect. The people who make the type of comments in the first paragraph are failing to understand or refusing to acknowledge that the Duggars have made their bed, and now they are going to have to lie in it.
