Was the gunman Muslim? Odd thing is Sikh's have very little motivation to be violent as their text is more about protection then anything else
Actually, Sikh extremist groups were very active in the 1980s. In fact, up until Sep. 11, either the deadliest or second deadliest terrorist attack was conducted by some Sikh group out of Canada. The attacks were in response to a raid by the Indian army on a Sikh holy site.
So, yeah, I second Smurfette Principle's statement. Reports from survivors say the perpetrator was a big bald white guy, and given how Sikhs have been attacked before for being Muslim, it wouldn't surprise me if the gunman thought he was attacking a mosque(assuming this wasn't just a random target).
Also, if this was a right wing terrorist attack, cue the "it wasn't terrorism excuse" from Republicans and right wing media outlets.
