Been quite a good week actually.

Modernising processes and hardware refreshing old bits of kit that my workplace has been relying on for a couple of decades.  Highlight was rewriting a bespoke EXE file that had been used for batch printing a few million worth of invoices every month.  The old one was a 16-bit dinosaur running on a knackered old windows vista laptop.

It's now a scheduled task on the print server.  Bit less 90s chic.

I've played the first two zones of Sonic Mania, and Jim Sterling is 100% correct about it.  Its not just the Sonic game that the franchise desperately needed, its the sequel Sonic 3 & Knuckles never got.  Its pretty, its simple, and its fun.  Sega, take note: the indie scene knows how to make a Sonic game a hell of a lot better than Sonic Team ever fucking did.

So, I'm giving up Let's Playing, and I have to say, I'm not at all sad about it it was fun while it lasted but when no one watches your crap and you spend hours on end working on something, still it was a good run and I'm probably gonna be happier now that I'm no longer doing it.

Well, it took me eight hours and several, several missteps, but I finally managed to build my own computer for the first time. And it's a really nice one too. This thing should last me for years, especially when I upgrade the video card.

Bought new RAM, planning on installing it and attempting sell the machine for ~80% of what I bought it for (I.E. selling for 400), cause the RAM I'm installing is double the capacity of what I bought it for. So if anyone's up for a ASUS X550Za but with 16Gigs of RAM (or knows someone who is), HMU.

And after migrating the hard drives from my last computer over, I can finally announce and confirm.

Unlimited (my last computer) is dead and will be buried at the first chance available. Aestus Estus shall perform its absolute best as Unlimited's replacement. And it'll do a damn good job.

Pictures relevant, they're the computer in question. Exterior and interior.

Ex-Aid ended today.  I'm....kinda emotional about it.  Was a good series and it ended the way it needed to end.  Looking forward to Build next week.

Ironbite-oh and the DLCs.

I pre-ordered Sonic Mania on Steam. I'll be able to play it in a few days, if everything goes well.

On a related note, have you played Freedom Planet? It is, in many ways, a better game than the Genesis Sonic titles ever were. And I don't just mean the visuals and audio that's clearly impossible in 16bit games, I mean the physics and combat system is designed from the ground up to give the game the action movie pacing that it should have. The boss battles, in particular, are just objectively better.

Sorry, not available for that one. Just the Wii U, PS4, and the big three desktop OSs (Windows, OSX, Linux).

I got a real computer and a PS4, so I could look into either one of those.  Maybe PC, so I can dick around with it a bit, lol.
