The Sonnet Thread
« on: February 20, 2012, 12:21:30 pm »
As threatened in the Haiku Thread!

The 'Shakespearian' sonnet is:

14 lines
10 syllables per line in iambic pentameter (five pairs of unstressed/stressed - e.g. "They're coming to take me away, ha ha!")
rhyming pattern of a-b-a-b/c-d-c-d/e-f-e-f/g-g

I’m thinking this might take some time to write
And who of those who care to post so free
Would stir themselves betwtixt the day and night
And even scan these lines that flow from me?
My fingers drawn to keyboard keys and pen
Mine eyes do feast on LCD screen clear
When strikes inspiration’s arrow, oh when?
Such thoughts that come not suitable for here.
Erect things and other bits that stand proud
Windowshitters plainly windowshitting
Unseemly acts which usually draw a crowd,
Those who’d pay to see such things unfitting.
My muse has flown, she’s gone somewhere to die
I give up, I don’t think I’ll even try!

(yes, I know the iambic pentameter fails or, at the very least, requires a certain skew in the pronunciation - but it is a bitch!)

Part wolf, part pirate.

“Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity.”   -  Albert Einstein.

Ok seriously, is nobody even going to try and avenge my man-burrito?
