Hoffman was my favorite male actor. I'm pretty shut down by this news, sorry.

From what I understand from others who have battled addiction, you learn to get through one day at a time.  When you deal with such a highly addictive drug like heroin, it's only harder not to pick up the needle again.

Hoffman's death is tragic, especially with his wife and kids losing him to drug addiction.

He was a great actor, indeed.  I hope that through his death, others can seek help before it's too late.  I know that he did seek help last for his heroin and prescription pill addiction.  Addiction can be such a hard thing to overcome.
