Hurricane to hit Florida just in time for the RNC

Tropical Depression 9 was upgraded to a named tropical storm yesterday, and given the name Isaac. TS Isaac is expected to strengthen into a hurricane over the next couple days, then turn north and hit the state of Florida just in time for the Republican National Convention next week. While NOAA's 5-day forecasts are still guesswork, it's pretty good guesswork. Isaac's expected track is slightly to the east and lower intensity than yesterday at this time. There's still a chance it could change course, but it seems likely Tampa will be hit with something, regardless.

Great, so on top of my grandpa dying of cancer, my grandma has to survive yet another hurricane.

A Cat1 estimated to hit the very southern tip of Florida? Thankfully, I have little to worry about from it.

It has a couple hundred miles of inland travel before it would reach me. No way a Cat1 is gonna survive that.

I find it a little funny.  I remember not so long ago, they (fundies) on RR were gloating over a bad storm heading for a Democratic gathering.  May have been the DNC, I don't know.

I'm in NE florida so I'm hoping it misses us.  My wife's supposed to go to Disney for the Star Wars event.  Talk about bad timing!  FL just has a huge bullseye on it every hurricane season.
