I just don't want Sandy to be as bad everyone is saying it's going to be. I don't feel like owing an another $65 to my doctor's office, given that I now owe about $90 to them given the problems that I've been having with my insurance.

I just feel I should mention that every time I hear people talk about "Hurricane Sandy" in my mind it gets changed to "Hurricane Sandman."

Here's to you, old friend. *raises a toast*

I feel like this is a no-lose for the Republicans.  If Obama doesn't do enough to help people during and following the storm, they'll rip him apart, pointing out what a complete failure he is (while ignoring Bush and Katrina).  On the other hand, if Obama is able to do something, they'll either say he didn't do enough or he only did to get votes.

Or he's abusing the power of government to help people.
I'd be more sympathetic if people here didn't act like they knew what they were saying when they were saying something very much wrong.

By now I think Obama's used to there being vast swathes of the country with whom he just can't get a fair hearing. He'll cope.

This is gonna be annoying... I'm going to see about work tomorrow, likely have it off on Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday.
There is light and darkness in the world, to be sure.  However, there's no harm to be had in walking in the shade or shadows.

Projected path

Probablility of tropical storm-force winds (40mph)

Probability of 50 knot winds (60mph)

Projected rainfall potential

Reports are indicating that now that the hurricane has moved into warm Gulf Stream waters, the storm is now getting stronger and the eye is forming again.

All the governments and lots of businesses are closed in the DC area. However, the swearing in to the VA Bar (in Richmond) is still on.
