Well, looks like I'm going to be eating some junk food again. Seriously, what is up with all the Girl Scout hate coming out of the woodwork lately?
I have no idea, but wish I knew. For years, Girl Scouts were fine. Now, all of a sudden, they are "feminists, lesbians and communists." (Although I guess they have been "feminists" for a long time since Scouting encourages girls that they can do whatever they want with their lives.)
Joking aside, WTF....The girl scouts promote self esteem and all sorts of things for young girls across the USA. They do SO MUCH GOOD for their communities it's ridiculous. Line up the Churches, then line up the Girl Scouts. Who did more good for their fellow people?
I went to visit a Domestic Violence shelter yesterday with my DV class. The woman who was giving us the tour discussed different groups that donate stuff and time, and mentioned both church groups and the Girls Scouts. During the tour, we saw the "toddlers playground," a fenced-in outside area with several large toys. The fence had images of people painted on them, and in the middle of the area was a concrete oval that the tour guide said is "a racetrack for trikes." She went on to tell us all the painting and the "race track" were done by local GS's.
Which do you think gets more use? Food donated occasionally, or decorations for a children's play area?
