My roommate is constantly looking over my shoulder to see what I'm doing online. It's not like I have anything to hide, but, cor, it gets on my nerves.

Pull up some hardcore porn.

Ironbite-never be bothered again.

Surely you underestimate the perversity of some people! :P

....THE SHOW IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD YOU FUCKING MORONS!  OF COURSE THERE'S NEVER BEEN A BRONY PRESIDENT!

Shit.  The show actually isn't even four years old yet.  It's four year anniversary isn't for another...let's see...8 months?

Not really annoying, but an odd feature of my life these days that I'm still not used to: the Boything knows famous people.

A bit of background information--Boything is a third generation magician, his dad and paternal grandfather are both magicians, very good ones, who do lots of big, elite magic conventions. They're all pretty well-known among magicians. Boything's dad performed at the White House (!) in the early 1990s alongside Bill Gates' personal magician (!!) and Shari Lewis of 'Lamb Chop's Play-Along' fame (!!!). Pretty much all the famous magicians you can think of, Boything and his dad know personally. Including James Randi.

Even after years together and living together, it still never fails to surprise me when we see these famous people on TV or mentioned in articles or something, and Boything pipes up with, 'Oh, yeah, I know that guy! He was incredibly annoying and a bigger asshole than you'd think.'

So Lance Burton is really arrogant; Chris Angel is an outright diva; Penn of Penn and Teller is a bit aggressive but still cool, and Teller won't break character and talk except when among other magicians and even then only if he's not demonstrating tricks.

"I could fucking kill you."

That's a charming statement to make to your youngest son, Mum.

Penn & Teller had a haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights 2012 based around a comedic nuclear missile-related accident at their Vegas show (long story), and they actually took out a huge chunk of time from their schedule to attend the event. There were quite a few days where they stood outside the house entrance, even in the middle of a massive Florida downpour, personally inviting people in and shaking their hands. At least one night they actually stood inside the final room of the house to participate in the scaring. The general consensus is that they were some of the coolest celebrities to make a visit.

Last year, since I was in the house based on An American Werewolf in London, we had John Landis come through twice. He actually was adamant for years about not giving Universal permission to make a haunted house based on his film, but eventually the quality of the event won him over. He was involved in the production of it from start to finish, right down to designing the ceiling for the Underground scene. One of the most popular actresses in the house scared him; she's a pretty little Mormon girl that nobody could hate and was never in a bad mood, and injured herself with how forcefully she flung herself around.
Still can't think of a signature a year later.

I've still got South Park's "Floppy Wiener" stuck in my head.
Guys, this is getting creepy. Can we talk about cannibalism instead?

*returns hug* Thanks, Doctor. I seem to be getting a lot of internet hugs today. I'd like to say that my original post was somewhat overblown: my dad works in Information Security, and what with the Target breach and everything professionals that have been doing his job for al long as he has have an excellent chance of getting a new job within six months. It's going to be rough for a while, but I'm working and my mom might be signing onto a new contract this week if everything works out.

If he was not fired for breach of conduct, he can get unemployment. With a family to support, he'll get the max benefit, most likely. Don't let him go all Randroid and not apply; all companies figure the cost of employer unemployment insurance contributions from what they pay in gross salaries to employees, and he's been paying in effect to the unemployment benefit programs through all the other taxes he pays himself. All goes into the pot, and it's really just getting back money he already did the work to earn in the first place, to support his family.

I know, but thanks. According to my mom, he was fired because another department wanted to cut corners (opening up the company to a data breach, with or without malicious intent) and he strong-armed them. I predict the company's going to make the situation with Target look like a printer jam when the wrong somebody figures out consumer data is insecure. As for talking about unemployment, I'm going to hold off until he cools down and sobers up. My dad doesn't drink often, and he rarely gets drunk, but right now he's on a bullet train to Wastedville.

People who say "addicting" when they mean "addictive".  Sadly, due to common usage, a  lot of dictionaries probably now have "addictng" as a word with the same definition as "addictive".

I'm not normally as anal as some people on such matters, as I accept and I am okay with the fact that common usage defines words and the meaning and usage of words changes all the time and always did; that's how languages evolve and it's a good thing.  But for some reason "addicting" annoys me.  It seems to be mostly an American thing but it also seems to be spreading.
