Texans going to Mexico to seek abortions

Quote
In this Roman Catholic stronghold, where abortion is deeply stigmatized, reproductive health providers tell stories of women going to pharmacies across the border in Mexico, in search of a drug they hope will terminate unwanted pregnancies.

Well here we are. Abortion regulations have gotten so bad in parts of the south that women are going to Mexico to purchase abortion-inducing drugs.

I'd almost feel like asking conservatives if they're happy with what they've done, but I know the answer to that question is "yes."

You give them far too much credit. If they cared about the fetus, they would be working to improve access to resources for poor women with unwanted children, improve orphanages and the adoption and foster care systems, and other such things that would help take care of the child once it was born.

All they really care about is punishing women for having sex.

Close. What they care about is the right of moderate Christian vote. That's who shapes their views on abortions, homosexuals' rights, etc.

You're both right.

There people honestly believe that women who have abortions are "selfish" and  "getting out of Jail ". They have to be punished.

One colorado republican even went so far as to hope a women gets AIDS and passes  the HIV to her child so her child will know to never be promiscuous like his mother.

They are by and large true believer (part of the reason they generally dislike Romney.  He's pretty obviously fake.)

But they also want those votes so they can get into office and make everyone follow their beliefs.

Which is why they are embarrassed by Aiken.  He was a little open about what so many of them not so secretly agree with.
