It's probably be more like he filled the application and then didn't get hired because he was a customer.
Spends a few minutes reading through any Love Shy thread bitching about friend-zoning, and you'll see why it's a very appropriate analogy.
Oh I disagree. Considering an analogy for the guys from Love Shy would be more like:
'HEY YOU! YEAH! YOU!"
"May I help you sir?"
"I WANT TO WORK HERE! I'M TOTALLY AWESOME AND YOU SHOULD HIRE ME!"
"Alright, well, we don't need anyone right now, but you can leave your resume..."
"I DON'T NEED ONE, I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS STORE ALREADY SO YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO TELL ME ANYTHING!"
"Okay... That's odd, I don't remember seeing you in here before..."
"I'VE BEEN STARING THROUGH THE WINDOW FOR MONTHS."
"... That's... nice... Well, if you fill out an application, maybe we'll call."
"HEY CAN I USE MY EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT NOW?"
"Um, no, you're not an employee."
"OKAY FINE, THEN I WANT MY FIRST WEEK'S PAY UP FRONT!"
"What pay? You haven't even been hired, we're not even hiring right n-"

And then he spends six months bitching about it online.
