And that quote's not entirely accurate.  In this case, it's partly true, but there are almost certainly at least some rioters who were just looking for an excuse to go crazy.  Besides, people have rioted over the most petty shit imaginable.  Soccer games are the stereotypical example, but people have started riots over everything from sandwiches to ballet performances.
