I got Saints Row 4. It definitely seems to be a bit more serious than the predecessor.

I was going to hold off on buying SR4 until it went on sale, but I caved and bought it today. I played the first couple missions and dicked around for a bit. So far it's pretty awesome.  I can't wait to really get into the game -- it looks promising.

I'm finding that it's not overly serious, just a bit more restrained with the "wild and wacky" stuff.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about earlier. It seems like they wanted a lot more coherence, which is what made the second game good: it knew what it was doing.

To put it in perspective, the first game is like the guy who's kinda funny, but usually doesn't talk much and doesn't stand out from the crowd except for being a decent guy. The second game is the class clown who says and does crazy shit, but is appealing when placed next to the more stiff and serious people and can be serious and intelligent when he wants to be. The third game is the class clown who doesn't really get what's funny (except to him personally), so he just says and does whatever random stuff comes to mind; some people think he's hilarious, while others wonder if he's actually doing anything intentionally or is just trying to be "RANDOMZ".

The fourth game is someone who's still funny and nutty, but tends to specifically do the most audacious stuff possible that will get the biggest reaction.
Still can't think of a signature a year later.

Saints Row is pretty much the only game series where

can be considered "restrained".

Ahaha I'm a bit further on. I have to collect 1200 of these fucking data thingies. Jesus fucking Christ.

I read some reviews and people have been complaining and giving low scores because the game is different from the third game and because of the same map.

Yeah, I'm only past the intro/tutorial parts of the game. I'd play more, but I know I'll end up staying up until, like, 3am if I do, and I'm already sleep-deprived enough as it is.

Coincidentally, as I'm always behind the times, I'm playing a copy of Saint's Row 3 that was gifted to me.

I was taken by surprise by the Star Wars parody at the beginning.

And then I had to fiddle with the graphics because the game runs like ass on my comp.

So far I've been having fun.  It's like GTA except... actual substance.

My character is kind of a classy punk due to having blue hair, pierced ears, and an affinity for the color purple, apparently.  I like how he looks.  I'll get a photo up later.

I've heard that game is fantastic. My friend also highly recommends it (along with all the other Bioshock games).

I'm apparently 34% into the game (or at least 34% completion which could mean anything). I'm having fun but I'm worried that the number of data points you collect aren't enough to upgrade every power and I feel like I shafted myself early on cause I needed to be beefed up for certain enemies.

Bioshock 1(till the midpoint) and Bioshock Infinite are great games.  Bioshock 2 was "lets see if we take everything that was original in the first game and throw it all away in favor of more Big Daddy issues."  Infinite is just....balls to the wall insanely good.

Ironbite-can't wait for the second DLC that takes us to Rapture

Okay, I have something that was even more difficult than playing Hotline Miami while nearly blind (thanks to the mole mask).  Wanna know what that is?  Playing the game exclusively with guns, my bare hands, and the pig mask...which makes even more guns.

You've got to be a HELL of a lot more careful with that shit, and the 3rd to last level with Jacket is damn near impossible.  But, fuckin did it!  Did it like a pro.
