Well the show wasn't that consistent in her portrayal anyway, they had one episode where she dealt with her shyness, and then another in the same season.

Would you care to be more specific?

Yeah, sorry. in Putting your Hoof down, Fluttershy overcame her shyness by becoming overly assertive and being a dick to everyone, at the end of the episode she was supposed to have learned that she can be assertive without being overtly agressive. then in Hurricane Fluttershy, she goes right back to being really shy.

I think Fluttershy's shyness in Hurricane Fluttershy was more of a "I can't do it." kind of shyness, and not quite the same "If that's okay with you." shyness I constantly see in fan portrayals.  Also, she's been a lot more confident in herself after getting over her self-doubt in flying.

I think that the episodes dealt with a different kind of shyness, and especially a shyness unlike her shyness in season 1.  Each time she's dealt with things holding her back though, she's come out stronger.

Regardless, her shyness sure isn't the "shyness taken to 11" that a lot of fan memes portray.

I agree, in "Hurricane Fluttershy" she was more "I can't do that" rather than a Shrinking Violet.

So it looks like those Equestria Girls character designs aren't going to get any better

Ew.

It's not like they're trying to hide that they're making "Monster High with Furries"

Ugh, why couldn't they have just bastardized IDK Dungeons & Dragons instead? At least that would be an interesting twist to fashion doll lines, and be an appropriated theme. "High Fantasy" is a pretty good counterpart to "Classic Horror". "Anthro Ponies" is not.
I'd be more sympathetic if people here didn't act like they knew what they were saying when they were saying something very much wrong.

Speaking of D&D, I was just thinking today it'd be fun to draw the Mane 6 as a D&D party. Their classes would be:

Twilight: Wizard (duh)
Apple Jack: Fighter
Rainbow Dash: Ranger
Fluttershy: Druid
Rarity: Artificer
Pinkie: Bard

Only problem is they wouldn't have a healer. Spike as a cleric, maybe?

Although Celestia would likely be a deity in a D&D proxy, I would like to imagine her as a paladin.  It'd actually work pretty well, if you think about it.

Someone did that.

I haven't really read it, but Rarity is a rogue, (although I could personally see her as a cleric). AJ is a Ranger, which makes sense. RD is a barbarian and Spike is Twilight's familiar.

I think Spike would be a good cleric, considering he's usually helpful.

Both Druids and Bards have access to healing magic, even if neither class is really set up as a dedicated healer.

I was thinking Shining Armor would be a perfect paladin.

That it is.  And they quote Dead Alewives.  Which still makes me geek out to this day.

The creepy thing? 'Show as D&D campaign' somehow WORKS... and makes me wonder what else could be adapted.

I don't have a theater close enough, but I guess the Hub will have it around the fall, so there's that.
