Title: Uganda's anti-gay law struck down
Post by: Askold on August 01, 2014, 10:17:26 am

Once again (for now at least) it is legal to be homosexual in Uganda. Many in Uganda are cheering for this, others are raging and claiming that they will get this law back. ...One person at least has already blamed Obama.

Quote
“This decision is a legal travesty. It is an insult to all family culture loving people in Uganda,” Ssempa said. “Is there possibility that the president traveling to Washington next week could be the reason why this case was hurried at lightening speed?… We just wonder if indeed our country is independent, and we want to ask the parliament to investigate the independence of the judiciary.”

I knew about the law but hadn't heard that it had been challenged in court. Good for you Uganda. Right now the only problems are that the way the law was repealed, it could be passed again.

...And they still have the old anti-sodomy laws from British colonial era so gay-sex is still illegal. But, yay for one step of progress.

Each little step towards progress is a good thing. Even if they try and enact the law again. At least it shows that the courts and some of the people are against such a law, which is really a good thing.
