I wish any of my teachers growing up had been that passionate and dedicated. Unfortunately, our public school system is pretty much designed to quash any passion, curiosity and desire to learn on the parts of both teachers and students.

If you look at it logically, cannibalism has great potential to simultaneously solve our overpopulation and food shortage problems.

Excuse me, sir, do you have a minute to talk about your lord and savior, Hannibal Barca?

Zenpencils?

Isn't that the same artist who felt persecuted by negative comments to where he used - of all fucking people - Hayao Miyazaki as his personal lord and savior, riding giant mechs, destroying all those who stand against popular culture, notably "trolls"? Because I find that unforgivable.

How unforgivable? Just plain offensive. Like Hayao Miyazaki is a very critical man, he carries a lot of unpopular opinions (he hates a lot of anime, for starters, despite his numerous contributions to the medium), even declared the animation styles of the "godfather of manga" himself Osamu Tezuka "cheap and nasty". He had been subject of media outrage in native Japan numerous times, notably when he commented not too long ago about how the Japanese are unapologetic about the "comfort women" (Korean women used as sex slaves in World War II) and various other atrocities. This man was dehumanized in that comic, treated like he's just this "magical, wonderful, shiny-happy-person" that Walt Disney has been bronzed as numerous times by his own company.

(That is to say that the Walt Disney Company is typically a pretentious college student's favorite pissing target and how it is funny that Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli would agree to have Disney distribute their films to the Western world.)

(All this is also said at the risk of sounding like a pretentious bag of shit myself for once again criticizing another popular artist on the internet, much like how I've pissed out on Tom Preston a while ago here.)

Thankfully, some students, myself included, realize this and seek to learn what they aren't teaching us.  Autodidacts of the world, unite!

Though, I will admit that 4 years of mandatory high school English is bullshit.  If you can't read and write the language, as well as draft an acceptable paper after nearly a decade of learning how, then you're probably not going to learn how, and if you still wanna try, it should be effing optional.  High school should be more about preparing you for actual college (which it largely does not, in my experience) and less about...well, getting high and finding hidden places in the school to get head.

I think what Alehksunos was getting at was that the person deified Miyazaki.  Personally, I don't care either way about the man since I've never seen any of his work, so...could be wrong, but that's what it sounds like the problem might be.

This is an abridgement of what I've pointed out in my previous post.

Here is someone's comic taking the piss on that comic.

I should also mention this is the same person who condemns social media, even comparing it to heroin and other hard drugs. As one person pointed out, he has made money off a social media as well, completely contradicting what has to be another insipid "New Media Is Evil" comic, hosted on "New Media".

This man is fucking crazy.

Though, I have to admit, that last comic, the one about "SOSHUL MEEDEEUH IZ EVUHL" is the most moronic piece of self-indulgent, quasi-intellectual wankery I've seen in a long god damned time.  It comes off as the exact same kind of bullshit that people use to claim that there's such a thing as "pornography addiction."  Fuck, porn addiction makes more sense than that bullshit.  According to that piece of drivel masquerading as profound social commentary, all of us here, and anyone that's used Facebook, Beebo, Twitter, Digg, a BBS, a forum, comment section, or any form of impersonal communication with any sort of regularity is a filthy junkie that needs to get the needle out of his arm and get a job.

All while having a slew of social network sharing buttons at the top...of the comic calling people who regularly use social sites little more than fucking junkies.  Clearly, the man's a genius of MENSA caliber, and perhaps beyond.  His level of self-awareness is staggering and his grasp of the meaning of addiction would easily qualify him for a doctorate in abnormal psychology.

Someday, over-charging brick and mortar Uni's...someday.....ALL of us will get our educations online, and without you gouging us there, too. You just hasten that day's arrival. To be clear, yes, tax support for higher education has fallen dramatically, thanks to the neoconservative movement, but it does not translate to a 12 fold increase in operating costs for school administration and operation.
