Fred's not a troll. He has a different opinion and one that he isn't exactly defending well, but I think considering differing opinions to be trolling is a terrible definition of trolling.

I agree that just having a different opinion isn't enough to be trolling. But Fred has a long-standing pattern of taking the most pig-headedly stupid positions available and claiming to be the only sane man because of it. The fact that he's saying this guy's ill-considered "joke" shouldn't be taken seriously, especially so soon after Boston, and the fact that he's claiming that such seriousness is equivalent to a fascist police state...yeah. There's differing opinions and then there's trolling, and I feel that Fred firmly crosses the line into the latter.

Bomb threats are taken very seriously, has been for a long time and especially after 9/11. As Shane has pointed out, it is part of protocol to check and clear the area whether or not the bomb threat is real. This is just a "better safe than sorry" thing. I'd much rather go through the inconvenience of a lockdown or evacuation in such a situation in that I would be safe if there is a bomb. If there is not, I'd still be glad that precautions were taken and that whoever made the bomb threat would be persecuted.

You just don't joke about "having a bomb in your bucket." or any jokes like that in a public place.
