Goddamn! That lady's got more backbone than the whole city council! I'm glad to see the repeal has been abandoned, but STOKED to see it defeated in such a spectacular fashion!

For her to stand there and be out and visible and to attack the religious laws in such a manner was a deeply courageous thing to do. I wouldn't have been strong enough to stand up like she did. Of course, I wouldn't even have thought of protesting against the law in the way she did. I am almost surprised that the right wing media haven't taken this opportunity to demonize her like they did Sandra fluke.

I'm impressed by her audacity, but worried for her safety. One must hope he doesn't take her up on that offer. Hell hath no fury like an angry fundie, which is disturbingly ironic when you think about it. Had she done this somewhere where the law wasn't as respected, she would be in serious trouble (cf. Top Gear's perilous run through Alabama).

But he's a law-abiding man...right?

That the original anti discrimination ordinance was passed by the Shreveport city council 8 to 1 actually says a lot about the political microclimate there; it's moderate and relatively tolerant. It's not a hick town.
