It's been one year ago (or even two, not sure anymore), but:
Tarja Turunen, with Leaves' Eyes as a warmup (which I discovered this way, and are awesome)

Leaves' Eyes, that's a band I haven't heard of in maybe 3 years, and yeah, I only found out about them through shear chance also*. But you're right, they are an awesome band, and if sirens were real that woman would be one.

*Maybe the craziest of chance, found a guitar pick in a gas station with "Leaves' Eyes" inscribed on it and decided to google them for whatever reason.

A week ago this evening, I saw Skillet at PointFest in Sandusky, Ohio. I did feel slightly out of place, PointFest being a Christian music festival, and me being Jewish, but it was still awesome. The concert was held at the Cedar Point amusement park, so I spent most of the day riding roller coasters with my cousins, and then we showed up at the concert just as Skillet came on.

Performed with some hardcore bands on Thursday. I do not like hardcore bands. BUT! we met some fans who had apparently gone out of their way to see us repeatedly, which was pretty damned cool \m/
