Let's not forget that, despite the fact it was a completely mediocre and forgettable game, Hatred was one of Steam's best sellers, outpacing the likes of fucking Grand Theft Auto V, CS:GO, and The Witcher 3. Hatred sold fucking gangbusters. If Ubisoft weren't so dedicated to their course with Far Cry 5, they could've basically been given a money printer and told to go hog wild with it.
