Title: Ladies...have an abortion in Iowa after you're raped?
Post by: ironbite on February 08, 2013, 03:25:55 pm
GO THE FUCK TO JAIL! (http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/02/07/iowa-bill-would-jail-raped-women-for-murder-of-single-cell-zygotes/#.URP7JVf1hrA.twitter)

A bill introduced by nine Republican state lawmakers in Iowa on Wednesday would define abortion as “murder,” sending doctors and raped women who terminate pregnancies to jail.

State Rep. Tom Shaw says that he authored House File 138 to protect human life, whether “you’re a zygote, an infant, a teenager or an adult.”

The bill defines a “person” as “an individual human being, without regard to age of development, from the moment of conception, when a zygote is formed, until natural death.”

“Murder includes killing another person through any means that terminates the life of the other person including but not limited to the use of abortion-inducing drugs,” the measure states without making any exceptions for rape or incest.

Republican state Rep. Rob Bacon, who is co-sponsoring the bill, told the Ames Tribune that he wanted to “protect the life of the unborn” because “[t]here’s still some of us that believe life begins at conception.”

During a Wednesday interview with Denver Bible Church pastor Bob Enyart, Shaw explained that defining a fertilized egg as a “person” in Iowa’s murder statute “just simplifies everything.”

“So when anyone has any questions towards us — the war on women, are you doing this, are you doing that? — no, it’s a simple response,” he insisted. “We are only defining who a person is.”

Yeah not a war on women my left hairy nutsack you fucking pile of shit in a man suit.

Ironbite-there's a fire somewhere in the world begging you to go die in it.

Ironbite, remind me, these people do live in the 21st Century, don't they?  There's not a timewarp somewhere allowing 17th century puritans in, is there?

They... they do realize that the USSC has already found such laws to be unconstitutional, don't they? Why the fuck are they wasting time and resources with bills they know for a fact are illegal?

Test cases--you never know when the Court will have swung hard enough to the right to uphold them.

Because they're hoping for the magic bullet that'll kill Roe vs. Wade.  They honestly do think that allowing women access to safe abortions is a crime worthy of the Nuremberg trials.  At least some of them do.  The ones who are truly evil are the ones who know that this wont' do shit but line their pockets with special interest money and/or do this shit because it makes them feel good to look a 14 year old rape victim in the eye and tell her she deserved to have her father rape her because she wore a smidge too much lipstick.

Ironbite-but remember...there is no war on women.

Ironically, whilst they fight a war against both the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, they are actually becoming more reactionary.

Well, if there's any good news to come of this, at least (according to the article) this bill will die the slow, horrible death it deserves.

Also, the guy's name is Bacon.  Damn, I'm hungry now.

To be fair, people in the Dark Ages had more common sense.

Why, why, WHY do they act like "simplifying the issue" for something so complicated and gray is a good thing?!

Also, as much as I know One More Day is despised among Spiderman fans, I still think the girl's rant to Peter Parker sort of sums up pro-lifers like this for me: "You know what you're problem is?  You're selfish!  You're selfish, and you're self-involved and you always put your pain at the center of the universe!  As long as you can go to sleep with a clear conscience, you don't care who else has to pay the price for that good night's sleep!"

And that's what this boils down to.  A lot of the pro-lifers like this (the men) will never have to make the actual sacrifices needed to live by their own morals.  And that's what makes living by them easy; they'll never have to worry about being called upon to sacrifice their bodily integrity or mental health to make sure a fetus can be born.  Yeah, they can argue that men are hurt when a child they want is aborted without their say, and I don't doubt it's painful, but even then, they're still expecting someone else to provide the resources and time needed for something that only they want, and then become confused when the people who'll pay the actual price to make it happen say, "no, we won't be pawns for your whims and morals."  It's easy to declare embryos and fetuses people at conception when you know you'll never have to worry about making any direct sacrifice needed to live by that conviction.

It's not just men in that category too, it's also fundie women who think they'll never have to deal with those issues because only "sluts" get pregnant and only "child haters" don't want the kid.

They literally can't think of anything better to do with their time.

First off, that was an awesome statement Iosa the Invincible.
Secondly, what is downright disgusting is that all those pro-life fundie women who think only sluts get pregnant and only child haters don't want kids, will drive to another state so they or their kids can get an abortion without their little pro-life cult knowing they did. They are hypocritical assholes.
