Prepare To Rage (http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highschool-prep-rally/seven-old-anna-kimball-kicked-off-baseball-team-211302532.html)
Regardless of the questionable wisdom behind pushing to get a group of 7-year-olds into a "more competitive" baseball league, the unnamed coach himself insisted in his conversation with their mother that Anna was a better player than her younger brother, even though Carson would be allowed to keep playing while Anna would not. In addition to Anna, one other girl and other boys that had played on the team are reportedly being cut to make the team more competitive.
Ouch, just fucking ouch. "You're better than your brother, but he gets to play cause he has a penis, and we're cutting you because you don't."
Seriously, in 2012 we shouldn't have to deal with this shit.

Title IX would like to have a word with you sir.

Rainbow Dash is not amused.

Well, they're getting uptight because fewer and fewer people give a shit about baseball.
EDIT: In all seriousness, fuck those guys. There's no point in discriminating by gender for baseball.

I agree. The mother should sue and get all Title IX on their asses.
-
Baseball is a shit sport but that doesn't mean there should be discrimination in it. Seriously, if they want people to take more interest in that boring ass game they have to do things to make it more interesting and inclusive.
LGBT Major League anyone?
-
I actually kinda like baseball, but this is shit as hell.

I'm sorry, I thought this was 2012, not 1970.

Well, you live in Canada. Remember here, you can fire someone for simply being gay in over half of states.
-
I agree with the majority here. Gender shouldn't matter. :)
That having been said, would there be anywhere nearly as much of a shit-storm after a hypothetical boy asked to try out for the volleyball or water polo team and was told to piss off? Methinks there wouldn't. :(
-
Depends on the area and the parents. We had a minor local shitstorm here a few years back because one of the private dance studios didn't want to take boys in some of their more "feminine" classes. It only got a small blurb in the paper when the studio shut down and moved elsewhere, but anyone with small children who did the bare minimum of "mommy networking" knew about it.
So, yes and no to what you said. There was outrage about the boys not being allowed to dance, but more outrage when they tried to kick the butch girl off the football team when I was in high school.

Ye jest?

The coach sounds like one of those stereotypical sexist coaches you see on television. I hope that team goes winless to teach that bastard coach that coach a lesson. He can't use the excuse that she wasn't good enough as he kept worse players, and even if she wasn't the best player, who cares? It is a team for young kids, they care about having fun, not winning.

Well, according to stereotype, girls wanting to play on boys' teams are tomboys, whereas boys wanting to play on girls' teams are perverts.
So no, there is no shitstorm, because double-standard.

Nah, we kidnapped you and created a holographic Virginia to trick you. ONE OF US.

Women were playing in baseball in the 1940s and yet we still have this going on?

Why does this make me think of Plankton's holographic meatloaf?
