It wasn't just a cat.  It was a cat.  A living creature.  One of a kind.  Children loved it.  It was bound to have loved them back and had a personality.  There'll never be another cat like that again.  Ever.  Ever.

It was alive and enjoying it.  Now it's dead  bludgeoned, murdered.  Only due to some bastard getting his ass on his shoulders and trying to make an idiotic point in an evil way.

I had to vent that.  I had other things to say, but it probably would have made me sound like as much like a slavering lunatic as the cat murderer.

Another vote for the Anon Justice Squad.

In some ways, I'm inclined to agree; not in the "religious" sense (the version of the soul that is taught by churches), but in another, difficult-to-quantify way. One has a "spirit" in a sense, and when you're feeling down or depressed you can feel its weight, even though nothing's actually there. It may just be a construct of the brain, but that doesn't make it any less real (just changes its definition).

I've held animals while they died.  There's definitely something before and none of that something after.  What?  I'm not sure, but I've felt it to the core of my being.  One reason I don't take the death of anything (particularly something with a level of sentience) as blaze' as some.

My thoughts exactly.

There are certain things that I'd like to do to people like this. Can't though, as I'd need a doctor or nurse or some other medically-trained person to assist. Need 'em fully conscious and feeling the pain for the entire two-to-three weeks...
