You know, there are legit grievances that men in the United States and the United Kingdom face that do need addressing, such as a default of shared custody after a divorce, the high numbers of workplace deaths experienced by males, the high rates of male suicide, the fact that fewer and fewer men are graduating college, the fact that male victims of rape where the perpetrator is female are not taken seriously or are just told "men can't be raped," the fact that men are presumed to be the perpetrators of domestic violence even though the rates are roughly identical among other things. You know, actual issues and lack of rights that men directly face.

But somehow I don't think these jackholes will mention any of that.

Let them have their conference and call me when they decide to ditch the fedoras and talk seriously about men's rights.

It's a shame that hats are being branded with obnoxious ideologies, because really both Fedoras and Trilbys are pretty snazzy. Just for the prevention of skin cancer, people should be encouraged to wear hats. As it is I will stick to my zippered buckethat. Or 'Hat Money' as it is known.

Hell, I wear a fedora. I'm not giving up my hat to those losers.

We should start a movement based on the right to wear a fedora without being automatically assumed to be an MRA douchebag.

We should do it for all fedora-like hats. Lets get Linkara in on this.

They like mentioning that stuff as talking points but they do fuck all about it.

AVFM Paul Elam just seems to pocket the donations to the cause.

Pretty much all these idiots do is whine and occasionally rip each other off.

Ok, so one group of guys who hate women say that they are not part of MRA movement. Don't try to lump them in with them in that case. MRAs have their own problems and plenty of douchebags as well but why would you try to claim that they are part of the movement if they specifically say they aren't?

I have a very good friend who used to wear a proper fedora.  He's a really sweet dude who draws indie comics with a local Chicago-based studio with pretty low self-esteem to begin with and who does absolutely everything in his power to make everyone around him feel happy.  That fedora was his favorite goddamn hat.  And the image these morons gave it (Even though they wear trilbies, not fedoras) forced him to stop wearing it because he was terrified people would confuse him for one of them.  He's an amazing dude and he and his girlfriend (Who is trans) are the most adorable, dorky couple ever.  He introduced her to Gundam and we shared a hotel room at an anime convention last year and she bought so many model kits they built a fort out of them and played Street Fighter from inside it, it was adorable.  So even though the 'fedora wearing neckbeard' is mostly a creation of an internet that confused fedoras for trilbies, I still choose to feel a deep sense of anger at the MRA fuckheads that made my low self esteem buddy feel even worse about himself.

Return of Kings might not bill themselves as "men's rights" but Roosh mostly agitates for the interests heterosexual men, even if there are plenty of those who are yelling "dude, please don't say you represent me FFS". He tried making a gamer site specifically aimed at heterosexual dudes that crashed and burned quite thoroughly.

That said there isn't much that can be called agitation for civil rights, or even a recognition that those are a thing but plenty of anger against the civil rights of others.

...But saying that you are making a "SPESHUL MEN'S ONLY CLUB FOR 100% REAL HETEROSEXUALS!" is not the same as making a men's rights movement. Granted that everyone I've seen call themselves a MRA has been a dick and been more interested in harming women's rights than supporting men's rights...

I suppose I am getting annoying but I am a bit angry that there are real issues that men face that need attention but the entire MRA movement is only seen as dicks, feminist movement(s) have people who either think men's rights should be ignored or say that the PATRIARCHY is to blame for men's problems ...and therefore the problems should be ignored. ...And even equalitarian/equalist words are now seen as "tainted" while the feminism is seen as the true equality movement and they can ignore all their problems by going "no true scotsman" on the "bad" kinds of feminists.
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:

...Is MRA now a synonym for a group of men who try to make a men only club and insult women and transmen? It's like this: A person can be an anti-semitist without being a neo-nazi, yes or no?

Askold, you have a point about how you can hate them darkies but not be a klansman. But sometimes if you stand too close to a group, you get painted by the same brush.

Well, if we're going to consider the assholes at RoK "MRAs" when they explicitly say they're not, it's only fair that we do the same for the Good Men Project.
