Back in Europa Universilas again. Playing good old Polish Lithuanian COmmonwealth. Basically been at odds with the HRE since the start, the Emperor getting shit from me constantly.

Basically I've won before the 1500s. Germany is half a Polish Playground and the other Half is getting nommed on by France. The Former "emperor" is now my vassal and I'm laughing as two province Burgundy tries to keep the thing from falling apart. Difficulty of course is dismantling the Empire when you're not a republic or Theocracy, of course.
The material needs a defender more than the spiritual. If there is a higher power, it can defend itself from the material. Thus denotes 'higher power'.

I haven't played a good RPG in ages, does anybody have any recommendations? there is a massive backlog of SNES RPG's I've yet to play, but I don't know where to start. My computer isn't that great either, so it limits what I can try.
I'd highly recommend the original (Black Isle) Fallout games, as well as Arcanum and Planescape: Torment. Just add the fanmade patches and content restoration and you're good.

Oh, God, I loved Arcanum. Play it if you haven't.
Oh, you take the high road, and I'll take the low road...

  • Any Ys  game (except III or V, though the far superior remake of III is on Steam, along with Ys Origin)
  • Recettear
  • Pretty much any Shin Megami Tensei game available in the west (If you know Japanese, include the ones that are Japan-only. Also, I'm assuming you have either a PS2 or a backwards-compatible PS3. Also, ports of the games in the Persona sub-series are playable on the PSP and Vita, aside from the second game in the Persona 2 duology)

I'm getting a little tired of having to carry my team. And when people run into me multiple times, fucking up my aiming.

Stop that, team.

I also find it difficult to dodge spoilers for many of the current games I haven't yet completed for whatever reason. It's getting to be annoying.

Well, I'm now replaying Fallout 2, and this time, I'm not only going to try and actually finish the damn thing, but not be a cheap cunt about it (I.E. not saving and reloading every round of combat to guarantee a 5% hit to the eyes every time).

After beating Fallout 2 legit, like, a lonnnnnnnnnng time ago, after that, I decided to say "fuck it" and use some less-than-scrupulous memory fuckery to max out my everything.  Is there anything more satisfying than killing an Enclave soldier with a single shot to the eyes...with a run-of-the-mill BB gun?  With the Bloody Mess trait on, so they explode into showers of gore every time they die from so much as a papercut?

OOOHH! Do you have Killap's patch? Get that it is awesome!

Yup. That and the Fallout 2 Restoration Project. It's some pretty snazzy stuff.

My brother donated to me his old graphics card yesterday so I can finally play my copy of the Witcher at a consistent framerate so I'm playing that now mostly, but I'm certainly gonna keep these suggestions in mind for later, thanks! Been meaning to play the original Fallouts for the first time after playing the 3rd one.

Also, forgot to clarify: none of the Shin Megami Tensei games are on the PC. Hence the part about assuming you have a PS2, seeing as many of the ones which have been localized are on that system.

If ya lookin for a decent old-timey western RPG series to play, I highly recommend the Ultima series.  In fact, quite a few of the early games are free on GOG, and the latter ones (like VII, easily one of the best games of all time) are still pretty cheap, weighing in at around $6.  Cheap, not graphically intensive in the slightest, and looooooots of play time, lemme yell ya.  Hell, just Ultima IV will have you playing for at least a few weeks before you beat it, and that's even with a fair piece of foreknowledge.

They aren't. Though Persona 3: FES is available on the PSN store, at least.

I actually bought all the Ultima games when they were on sale, really enjoyed Ultima Underworld but had trouble getting into Ultima VII, probably a side-effect of being born in the 90's but it just struck me as confusing. I'm certainly going to give it a second look after I'm done with The Witcher.
