I was just about to post that very comic. Well done!

Also, the first two panels do have subtle hints at the ending. Note that it's not really "girls and jewelry" but "princesses and gold" that the kid wants.

The third panel (featuring a dragon statue) and the fourth panel (featuring a guy who made himself look like a vampire and a guy who made himself look like a minotaur) are also hints.
