I believe the answer is E. I feel smrt.
They're all wrong: a stuffed animal will have a low mass:surface area ratio and will be subject to a lot of drag, which none of them accounted for.

You sure? It doesn't say what sort of stuffed animal we're dealing with. For all you know, it could be perfectly spherical and stuffed with a solid mass of concrete.

Joking aside, I think the answer is A, since it's the only one with all the signs correct.  Darth Vader's solution implies it ends up 22m below where it started, was thrown up, and is falling down.  Voldemort's solution implies it ends up 22m above than it started, was initially thrown up, and is falling up.  Sauron's solution implies it ends up 22m above where it started, was thrown down, and fell up.

No. Signs are based on a coordinate system, and if Sauron put "down" as being positive and "up" as being negative on his system, he is correct.

It's in a vacuum, you lose.

I'd be more sympathetic if people here didn't act like they knew what they were saying when they were saying something very much wrong.

This right here. When it comes to vectors, positive and negative signs are interchangeable, as long as it's consistently applied to all relevant parameters. Voldemort's solution demonstrates how it can go wrong, because he defined the initial velocity to be in the same direction as gravity and ended up getting the wrong time as a result.
