Awesome thrash that sounds kinda like oldschool Bathory, but a bit more technically proficient I s'pose you could say.

Heres a video of the best drummer in existence. EVERY metalhead needs to learn of the skills of Jamie Saint Merat from Ulcerate

Since you mentioned Ulcerate, I just wanted to say that I saw them play in Brooklyn tonight and they tore the roof of the place!

They don't have footage of it up on Youtube yet.  The show was at a total dive in Williamsburg called Public Assembly, the crowd was friendly but the acoustics were shit, so here is some footage of them playing in their home city of Auckland, New Zealand.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hg-pc_MJiKM" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hg-pc_MJiKM</a>

Opening for them were two bands:  French neo-black metallers Svart Crown (who were actually pretty interesting for black metal), and Tombs (a sludge metal band from Brooklyn, I liked them but my friend didn't).

Time for some Aeternus.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09kCUkzxKUA" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09kCUkzxKUA</a>

Seriously, I've listened to that demo all the way through about 5 times and I'm yet to tire of it.

Another track:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yT5QGkZfElw" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yT5QGkZfElw</a>
In paranoia I find genius / But the ice-dreams have come
with spiritless consequence / A hatchet has been hidden
between my eyes / A hatchet gift-wrapped in paranoia / A
wooden heart never bleeds / A wooden heart never bleeds,
yet inextricable thoughts still weave / Introspection
fabricated for battle / No time has been wasted
/ Neuroleptic seconds marry electroconvulsive hours / In
the cranial freezer, paranoia is the bastard and I
find genius Petrify / Paralyze

Bumping this thread with some Steel Pole Bath Tub, an excellent alt-punk/noise rock band from Bozeman, Montana.  Their last album was kinda meh, but their earlier stuff is killer.

This is their song "Train to Miami", which was featured in the "Left 4 Dead 2" commercial.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIBDnQP3zXk" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIBDnQP3zXk</a>

This is their song "Twist", which I think is the only official music video they did.

Here's a semi-official video for "One Thick Second", made by their guitarist, DK Morey.

While I generally hate noise-rock, Steel Pole Bathtub has always been an excellent example of the genre

Bumping with some good old NWOBHM--The band Legend, from the Channel Isles (specifically Jersey).

(And if you don't know what NWOBHM stands for, you should seriously re-evaluate your life up to this point.)

Now for something that's NOT metal.

I love Jens Lekman. One of the only lyricists I can appreciate, with the amazing ability to turn seemingly cheesy elements into wonderful flourishes of chamber pop. And he's back!

OK, you want some decent non-metal stuff?  Check out Ewan Dobson, arguably the most technically gifted guitarist to ever come out of Canada.  He plays mostly acoustic guitar, but check out what he can do with it.  He plays a fucking trance song on acoustic guitar.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXqPYte8tvc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXqPYte8tvc</a>

He can play almost any style of music, so check out his other YouTube vids.
