Bernie Sanders Is Running For POTUS!.....

I watched this video and thought of something.

Sanders begins by saying he'd like the United States to be like Scandinavian countries like Sweden, with free education, health care, etc.  O'Reilly counters, at about the 1:00, saying that isn't feasible since countries like Sweden are smaller and can thus afford the HC and schooling. 

Is this true?  Is the reason free schooling, HC, etc. work in those countries but not the U.S. is because the U.S. is larger?

Economies of scale only work for private enterprise.

Yeah, that's what would happen. In fact, I'm going to be doing an internship for college in the near future, but since oil prices dropped, all the jobs in my field in the area have disappeared. Haliburton already controlled most of what went on in the industry anyway since they where the biggest purchaser of things. Now the company I was really hoping to get a job with, and is the best company in the area from what I've heard, is actually owned by Haliburton.

I already knew I was pretty much gonna have to sell my soul to the devil, but now I probably can't even get the devil to make me an offer. I can put the internship off for another semester after the current one, in the hope that oil prices go back up. All the non oil related jobs are mostly aerospace and defense industry.

First of all USA is also much richer than the Nordic countries and if you would stop using so much money on military (and buying more tanks and other military vehicles and armaments than your military needs and forcing them to mothball brand new tanks and weapons because the government refuses to build only as many as they have asked for... This is what happens when company lobbyists decide where the spending should go.) you could probably afford all of that by simply cutting from that.

Considering that USA spends more government money on healthcare than Finland despite not having socialized medicine I think your current system has plenty of waste and could be made smarter.

But, if they did that then the all important tax money wouldn't go to the people who really need it, the mega corporations and contractors.

I guess this just means that people should start lobbying for the healthcare companies... I am pretty sure there are megacorporation among them as well and they would probably like government contracts just as much as any other corporation.

Well, I hope they're wrong and Sanders gets tons of support. Now I'd LOVE to see their reactions should that come up! It'll be like the "Karl Rove during the 2012 Presidential Election" snafu. I'll get the popcorn for THAT!

Sure it would be nice. But I don't see Mr. Sanders having what it takes to beat Hillary in the primaries. And even if he does, do you seriously think he could stand up to a moderate Republican, say Christie, in the general?

The plan was that the two candidates will divide the votes and those who supported the loser would either skip the final elections or even vote for the Republicans to spite Obama when he would eventually win the candidacy.

To summarize, they are slamming Sanders for a quote he made regarding women fantasizing about getting raped.  It was in a column he wrote and shows his views exactly.  That's it folks; shows over.  Time to go home.

"If you read it, it was dealing with gender stereotypes. Why some men like to oppress women. Why other women like to be submissive. You know, something like Fifty Shades of Grey. Very poorly written. Forty-three years ago."

So this essay which Fox News claimed to bash women was actually a satire showing gender stereotypes, which Sanders admits was poorly written.  Oh yeah, did I mention he wrote it over 40 years ago?

Personally I find this to be fantastic news!  First, because it shows the Right officially considers Sanders a threat.  And second, the best they could come up with when digging up dirt was a 40-year old satirical essay.
