Title: In Medieval Britain if you wanted to get ahead, you had to speak French.

Found this interesting bit of European history browsing around the internet a bit

This is because of the Norman conquests. This was mentioned a little bit in world history back in High School (I'm American), but I'd assume European schools probably go more in-depth into this part of history.
