Umm are they talking about the whole NSA spying crap, because if I remember correctly, you can thank the Patriot Act for that, which became legal under Bush, but I forgot you rightwingers tend to forget that detail, right??
Also any business needs to thank the god damn community that they're part of, otherwise you won't have a fucking business to begin with.

Despite the pure wharrgarbl and more taking Obama quotes out of context (and butchering Star Wars), i kind of agree with him about Congress being a hive of scum and villainy, but not for the same reasons.

Wasn't the TARP bailout originally Bush's idea? Seriously, did the bailouts only become bad when a Democrat became President?

...

Why am I asking questions I already know the answers to?

Also, the "You didn't build that" remark was an out of context quote mine. Using that against Obama in complete seriousness is tantamount to saying "I know absolutely nothing about what I'm talking about and am just parroting talking points from Limbaugh" in my opinion.

People rarely do ANYTHING in the name of atheism. And the only one's I've heard of advocating death (where their motivation was their atheism and they specifically wanted to kill everyone religious) have been on FSTDT. Mostly mainpage.

Seriously, as far as I'm aware of, Stalin was mainly concerned about himself and gaining more power. If he did do something for a cause other than himself it was for communism or Soviet union.

Yep pretty much.  And if you show a Christian who was evil, he was No True Christiantm, or same with a Muslim who did bad things.

The No True Scotsman fallacy has been used so often by Christian/conservative fundies that I can't help but feel it should be "officially" renamed the No True Christian fallacy.

I've heard the argument made that he was not a True Communist, but a power-hungry maniac who would have joined any side that had the potential to give him more power.

I went to college with a Trotskyist who only ever referred to him as "the traitor, Stalin."

Saddam had a book about Stalin and was apparently a fan. Someone questioned him about it worried that Saddam might be a dirty commie. His resply was basically "I'm not a communist and are you even certain that Stalin was one either?"

I think that's the case for a lot of dictators. Kim Il Sung managed to make his personality cult the national religion.

I've also heard it suggested about Osama bin Laden. I have no idea if it's true, but if I ever feel a desire to piss off someone in al-Qaeda, I'll use it.

So.  If you saw this pic without the text, would you assume it was in a socialist country?

Or would you think this is from a capitalist country like the US, seeing as how homeless are common here?

I thought Murika became solishulist when the brown guy came into office.

On a more serious note, there are some rwinger who believe that welfare other safety programs cause poverty.. by helping poor people... somehow.
I'd be more sympathetic if people here didn't act like they knew what they were saying when they were saying something very much wrong.

Because it takes away their incentive to work by giving them free money for being unemployed. Or underemployed, as the case may be. In a sense, the latter is hard to argue with, as you lose access to such programs the moment you work more than 20hrs in a week. When you're essentially earning, and relying on, two separate sources of income by staying below the 20hr/wk level, the incentive to do more does, in a sense, disappear, as it will cost you dearly if the additional work hours don't compensate for the welfare you were bringing in beforehand. As someone who's job routinely has me straddling the line of qualifying for aid, I can tell you that this is incredibly irritating.
Her3tik, you have groupies.
