I don't like most reality shows outside of" Hell's Kitchen," "Kitchen Nightmares," "Masterchef," and "Beyond Scared Straight." Otherwise most "reality shows" are inane and "filler TV" I absolutely despise "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," "Toddlers and Tiaras," "Stage Moms" and any other show that exploits children or where there are parents exploiting their own kids.
I also, deeply despise, and I mean despise "The Biggest Loser" after reading about some former contestants coming out and saying how abusive the trainers are, how they desperately worked out for hours on end and dehydrated themselves before the big weigh in, and how producers ignored and even prevented the doctor on staff and brushed them aside. There was one contestant who discussed how they edited the show to make it look like that the contestants were complaining about the exercises. She gave an example of Heather who was a contestant in her season that had a knee injury and was told by the doctor that she had to rest but the trainers ignored that and forced her to exercise while Heather was crying and in pain and said that she couldn't do it. It was edited to make Heather look bad and that she was lazy. I will try and find the article if I can, but, this show is dangerous and unhealthy and could potentially put people's lives at risk. One other contestant even came out and said that he developed an eating disorder as a result of this show, also, many of the contestants that lost weight gained it all back. This show does nothing but humiliate obese people and put them in a bad light as well as possibly giving false hope to obese people and thus giving them the unrealistic idea that they can lose 10-12lbs a week. I could go on but I just have to say that I hate, hate, HATE this show!
I just watched the movie "Idiocracy" and I am terrified that this is what we are becoming and I hope that I will be dead before that happens. I can see now that we are fast becoming similar to the society portrayed in that movie.
I prefer shows that have a mediocum of intelligence and I enjoy medical shows and I also like documentaries that deal with scientific stuff.
I think I am blessed that I don't have a TV or cable but I have seen an episode of HCBB and I got to wonder what is wrong with people that they want to watch shit like that?
