Ouch, did someone actually force you to take that thing?  If not, then...its not really necessary.  Its a hell of a lot simpler to just go to a community college for 2 years, and get the gen-ed stuff out of the way.  Oh, and make sure they have a Guaranteed Admissions thing with your uni of choice.  If they do, then once you're done there, you can transfer your credits over to your desired uni and boom.  No ACT bullshit required, just keep a good GPA, which isn't all that hard in community college.  It also helps that its a LOT cheaper in the long run, because that's two years you likely don't have to take out student loans, substantially decreasing your debt.

Well, this is all assuming you're not going into something like law or medicine...those are a tad different from other career tracks.  But, yes, do not discount the lowly community college.  They're nice and cheap, my time at Pulaski Tech was wholly funded by a Pell Grant, with plenty left over, and since a lot of their students are older folks, their classes tend to be easier to handle with more reasonable requirements.

I'm being forced to attend a luncheon to meet my scholarship donors. They're saying there's not enough room for everyone (even though it's being held in a large outdoor space), so I probably can't bring any guests with me. That's just fucking spiffy. I love going to strange places and meeting strange people by myself.

Exactly! She's 17, but she doesn't really have any empathy for me. I'd try to explain to her that I do not deal well with being stressed or anxiety-ridden when I'm trying to eat, but I know exactly what she'd say: "Get over it!"

I made the mistake of engaging in a facebook political debate with an old friend with whom I never engage in conversation on religion or politics.  It went something like this:

Him:  The IRS specifically targeted conservatives and that anyone who voted against this bill should be voted out of office.

Me:  That bill doesn't do anything.  The Republicans gave it a controversial name and introduced to score political points.  This is partisan hackery.  Plus, progressive groups were affected by what the IRS was doing as well.

Him:  100% of the groups affected were right-leaning.

Me:  That is demonstrably false.  *Demonstrates*

Him:  The fact that some liberal groups were affected doesn't matter.  What matters is that they were targeting right-wing groups.
