Humanity does learn from history,sadly, they're rarely the ones in power.
Life is too damned short for the concept of “guilty” pleasures to have any meaning.
I once worked for a telemarketing company where I was told if I got one more perfect review I'd be up for a raise. The shift manager was supposed to listen to two phone calls and rate them. Which she did, and I got my perfect score. She then told upper management that she thought I could tell when she was listening to my calls so she "borrowed someone else's headset" *coughsbullshitcoughs* and listened to a third. She marked that one as 0% because a man asked to be put on the do not call list and I didn't read him the three page do not call disclaimer. "Oh, well, if you don't read that it's an automatic failure."I complained to upper management...and was promptly fired. Turns out the shift manager was the daughter in law of the general manager, and the general manager decided me threatening to contact corporate if she wasn't reprimanded was a "threat of violence" against a superior.

I sympathize completely. However, to use against us. Let me ask you a troll. On the one who pulled it. But here's the question: where do I think it might as well have stepped out of all people would cling to a layman.
I'd be more sympathetic if people here didn't act like they knew what they were saying when they were saying something very much wrong.
Commenter Brendan Rizzo is an American (still living there) who really, really hates America. He used to make posts defending his country from anti-American attacks but got fed up with it all.
It doesn't concern you, Sister, that kind of absolutist view of the universe? Right and wrong determined solely by a single all-knowing, all powerful being whose judgment cannot be questioned and in whose name the most horrendous acts can be sanctioned without appeal?

About a year out of date, but I'm not sure if anybody posted it here (and it's still relevant, say to the 2014 midterm elections):
I think it's because they flow. Good things tend to flow. Flowing is nice.
