So yeah, get him to be a firefighter or EMT. He won't be in a position to shoot anyone, but will gladly risk his life for others, to try to be a hero. I'd rather him risk his own life saving others, because it's putting a bad trait to good use.

I'd rather not have him in any position where he has to save someone. Along with the fact that he seems more willing to take stupid risks and endanger himself and others in the name of heroism, he's also a pretty apparent racist and a confirmed violent criminal who (at least when it occurred) was hardly remorseful about his actions. He'd be more likely to try and use his status as a firefighter or EMT as bragging rights during a drunken argument, or skip steps and take unnecessary risks while saving lives.

I read this article on Cracked yesterday and feel that it might be relevant.

#2 "People Who Crave Attention Will Make Bigger Sacrifices" discusses a study where altruistic behavior was linked to a desire for notoriety rather than altruism. I don't know how valid it is (it's a Cracked article, after all) but if it's true it disputes the idea that Zimmerman is automatically an upstanding man who couldn't have murdered Martin because of his actions today.

With a few exceptions, people who do evil don't consider themselves evil. Zimmerman thought he was doing the right thing when he followed Martin.

Oh, Zimmerman's definitely racist. Witness 9 (the one who said he was a child molester) also said that his family was quite hateful toward black people. At the very least, his Myspace is loaded with racism against Mexicans and claims that they're all thugs and killers. There was also an article relatively early after they decided to charge him in which someone who had experienced him as the neighborhood watch said that he specifically told them to watch out for black youths as a potential source of crime.

The dude's pretty damn racist. Hero complex is a big part of it, but I don't think he'd have been as suspicious of a white kid.

Also, bad people & organizations tend to do a lot of good deeds as a way to look more sympathetic. A few may have genuine intentions but for many it's a "PR" thing.

Not be defending Zimmerman, but I'm getting deja vu with when conspiracy theorists said the Sandy Hook Shootings and Boston Bombings were staged. Only this time, there's more credible evidence so far.
