Posting Amy Pascal's private Amazon orders, and making fun of her private feminine hygiene products? I thought those hypocritical radfems were already at rock bottom, but now they've somehow managed to fall even farther!
Any other site and it would be a prime example of how sexist and misogynistic they are. But not us, it's totes cool when we do it.
Maybe somebody should point out what happened to this rag's biblical namesake.

UP. If JEZEBEL has a single solitary actual radfem on staff, then she's a brilliant, perfectly disguised mole. I think you may need a refresher course on what radfem means. Anybody wanna go grab a few doozies from Tumblr or FSDT to show UP what I mean? I can't be arsed. I pressure washed 50 patio chairs all day. I'm literally burnt toast, here.

You know, I get why UP hates Jezebel. It's because GamerGate has taught him to. Kotaku is part of Gawker and because Kotaku is bad, all of Gawker must be bad, therefore Jezebel is a radscum infested hate rag.
Now, this is stupid to anyone else who isn't Madman, who has had similar GamerGate brainwashing (see his irrational hatred of Brianna Wu), because to anyone else, Jezebel is just a boring feminist gossip blog. A boring feminist gossip blog that too often jumps to conclusions, but a boring feminist gossip blog all the same.

I don't remember Deborah or Esther suffering nearly as horribly. I'd say it has more to do with the fact that she had an innocent man executed so her husband could get control of his vineyard. Furthermore, when it comes to her misdeeds, that was the tip of the iceberg.
And a radical feminist is, in theory, a feminist who sees an end to the Patriarchy as an end in and of itself. And from what I've read, that's how things used to be. Today, however, most self-proclaimed "radical feminists" (or at least the most vocal ones) are little more than angry, hate-filled extremists with an irrational loathing of men, transsexuals and sex workers.
Maybe we ought to come up with a new term. "Extreme feminist" has a nice ring to it.

Jezebel is not a site for radfems. It is primarily a gossip site with a strong 3rd wave feminist leaning, or at least it used to be. When I first started reading it in high school it was smart and thoughtful. There were honest critiques about whether or not wearing an apron or getting a brazilian, etc. inherently undermined your feminist principles. They used to have models live blog NY fashion week and book reviews and interviews. The website has always had the philosophy that you can call yourself a feminist while still embracing stereotypical feminine things (not something that all feminists accept), but at least they used to put a little thought into.
The site has gone way down hill in the last 5-6 years. I hate throwing the label hipster around, but that is the best way to describe the newest writers. All they write all day is snarky bullshit, like the article above. One of the writers posts nothing but animal videos. I've seen articles praising certain artists (usually Beyonce) for shading other women, and when commenters pointed out that maybe we shouldn't be praising women who use their power and influence to shit on the women underneith of them, the author said that Beyonce says she's a feminist so whatever she does is cool and then spammed the commenters with Beyonce gifs. When the author of the Pascal was called out (rightly so) by the commenters she tried to say she was praising Pascal, that Pascal was her hero. When a commenter pointed out that it was extremely uncool to publically post someone's personal purchases, she literally said that we shouldn't feel sorry for rich people when their right to privacy is violated*.
So yeah, this article really pissed me off. I haven't been back on the site since, probably won't be. UP is right to call this out. The Jezzie's would be frothing with righteous indignation if Kotaku or any other site on the web had posted that. But because they did it to someone they kind of don't like, it's ok.
*Jezebel has a very mainstream feminist philosophy so it mostly concerns the needs of middle class to rich white women. While they do pay lip service to the way the system is the US is set against poorer people, it gets constant criticism on it's lack of intersectionality among other things. I dunno, this just massively adds to the criticism of that statement to me.

To be fair, there's plenty of reasons to dislike Gawker other than [that thing which we don't talk about].

I first flipped through an edition of JEZEBEL in 1999. It was from stacks of magazines left out on the bar in a busy lounge in trendy in-town Atlanta near Emory, GA Tech and GA State. 85% of the magazine consisted of full page advertising photos for Fossil, Coach, MAC, Prada, Loreal, etc. etc. The "articles" were 5 to 10 paragraphs long, written to appeal to Gen X teens and college girls. Even the choice of name said it all; We are fashionista feministas! We are younger, edgier versions of the chic, brainy, urbane women on Sex in the City!
The online version today is different only in where they glean their buzzwords and snark points (Tumblr, etc.), and how low they are willing to go to snare and maintain their target demographics' attention spans.

Sure, but if your job description is "being good at killing people" and you no longer have that job, you're probably going to take another job where being good at killing people is useful. Most of those jobs don't exactly make you a pillar of the community

Indeed, the word ronin just means "samurai without a lord". While many ronin did become bandits, the closest possible equivalent would be to say that they're free agents in the samurai equivalent of the NFL.
Also, since we're finally talking about the Sengoku era, Of a Nobunaga did nothing wrong.
