Am I surprised he did this? Nope. But I am surprised he was dumb enough to do it during a recall election.
I figure he's not expecting to see out the year, so he's trying to cause as much damage as possible, while he still can.
I’m guessing that as well.
He also just signed a bill requires teachers to stress abstinence while making it optional to teach about contraception. I don’t see anything changing in the public schools soon, fortunately. But watch out if your kid is in a religious school.
Whatever gaps exist, he insists, stem from women’s decision to prioritize childrearing over their careers. “Take a hypothetical husband and wife who are both lawyers,” he says. “But the husband is working 50 or 60 hours a week, going all out, making 200 grand a year. The woman takes time off, raises kids, is not go go go. Now they’re 50 years old. The husband is making 200 grand a year, the woman is making 40 grand a year. It wasn’t discrimination. There was a different sense of urgency in each person.”
He really thinks this situation is the same as making it legal to pay women less?
Yeah. Getting paid less because your employer is a misogynist is not the fucking same thing as getting paid less as a result of making your career a low priority.
Rather misogynistic viewpoint to begin with that all women are family first types while all men are career first types anyway.
