furthermore the kid is still fucking tiny.

As Cenk said to need to shoot this kid, Zimmerman must be the world's biggest pussy.

the difference between 17 and 28 on a strength level and just hardiness level is huge, as is 100lbs. Fuck he could have just smothered the kid.

If I gave the impression I agree with what they're doing, I apologize. That's simply the tactic they're using. Make Trayvon look like a future scary black man, play upon racist tendencies (both subconscious and otherwise), try to create the image that he's more The Wire than The Cosby Show, etc. Even if the picture was of the correct Trayvon Martin, it would still be nothing more than using some of American culture's lingering racism in order to create a smokescreen that obscures the relevant facts of the case.

While I get your point, isn't this the kind of mindset that makes it harder for male victims of domestic violence to be taken seriously? Completely different context, of course, but focusing on physical size as the measure of a threat when it isn't exactly that simple.

Someone in "the hood" dressing "gangsta", as stupid as I think it is(it's harder to commit a crime with you pants around your knees), isn't much different than a guy in the south wearing a cowboy hat and boots. Do you expect someone wearing a cowboy hat to go rob a train?
History is full of maniacs, my friend, men and women of intelect, highly perceptive individuals, who's brilliant minds know neither restraint nor taboo. Such notions are the devils we must slay for the edification of pony-kind. Even if said edification means violating the rules of decency, society, and rightousness itself.

It makes Martin look like gangsta, which means he must obviously be violent and stuff.

It's not even a picture of him.

The "gangsta" picture is of a different Trayton Martin.

I like how they just "apologize" after making the "media bias" claim.  Not very well thought out, eh?

Not like the ability to look nice while wearing a suit makes one innocent of any violence either.

I'd be more sympathetic if people here didn't act like they knew what they were saying when they were saying something very much wrong.

As a native Detroiter, it is nowhere near that simple (otherwise the suburbs would have fallen at the same time, rather than expanding). Racism and short sighted policy caused a lot of the problems that economic woes befalling the auto industry exacerbated.

I bet Hiroshima has a few places that look just as bad as the worst places in Detroit. Maybe we should get a few pictures of that up here.

Hiroshima is also a Japanese city. Japan is more of a socialist democracy their arguments of government hand outs are invalid.

No as you said completely different context. Besides which size is a good indicator of threat but not of abuse. Just because someone is stronger doesn't mean they can stop their spouse abusing them. Its also got to do with what you're prepared to do. In this case given Zimmerman was prepared to shoot the kid and chased after him I think he probably wouldn't have had a problem punching him.

Treyvonn was not, Mike "I'll fuck you till you love me, faggot" Tyson. He was a skinny little teenager who was substantially physically smaller than zimmerman.

In any case, the auto companies' collapse was largely of their own making.

Isn't it funny how everything bad is the government's fault, but the government has little impact on the economy?

No as you said completely different context.

Unfortunately, most societal attitudes are rarely as context-sensitive as they should be.
