And congratulations on your new school! Sorry, I hope you can forgive my ignorance in this, but what specifically about your new school makes it better for trans people than most other schools? Programs? Support groups? Understanding staff and student body? I'm genuinely curious to know.

They have a ton of really helpful services catered to us right on campus, plus the university health plan covers most parts of transition, including SRS.

And Mira, while that is true, my Uni allows same-sex domestic partnership benefits. Ergo, same boat. Besides, that's irrelevant as I'm not getting married anytime soon.

No you're fine. It is a very good university policy and it's also very rare. Only 37 universities in the nation offer coverage of SRS and HRT. TBH, I knew before picking schools that mine would offer such benefits which made me work a bit harder with them on negotiating a decent scholarship to make it affordable.

You might want to find out what kind of drunk weird you are first (assuming you don't already know). I haven't been too bad yet, but I've definitely pushed my limits a couple times. That said, it's a lot of fun when you're already in a good mood.

More good news! Over the past year I've been gradually making small alterations in my dietary habits. Looks like I finally hit the tipping point for more calories burned than taken in. In the first half of 2013 I lost 5 lbs. In the past month alone I've lost an additional 10! I'm really proud of how much willpower I've been able to put forth.
