I honestly predicted that I would like Smaug, but I'm surprised at just how much.

That was the most perfect depiction of a dragon in any movie I've ever seen so far.

I can only hope that this encourages more mainline studios and video game companies to start doing dragons again instead of leaving them to B-Movie and B-Game corporations.

EDIT:

Oh god people are actually shipping Smaug and Bilbo.  I don't even know how to.  I just don't even.

If it helps I think it's still tongue and cheek even by their standards.

Query: did said dragon have four legs, or only two?  If the former, then its a real dragon, if the latter, then its just a magical, fire-breathing pterosaur.

a) People were already shipping Freeman's and Cumberpatch's characters from Sherlock, so it was inevitable that their characters in Hobbit would be shipped as well.

b) I actually happen to like two legged dragons. The "Proto-drakes" in WoW for example look awesome and I like those models more than the "standard" dragon they have.

I thought two-legged dragons (with wings) were a subspecies called "wyverns" and were just as dragon as any other dragon.  There's even the lindwurm that has no legs at all.

EDIT:  There's also the guiviere which has two legs but no wings or forelegs/arms.

Yeah... I've kinda been into dragons for a loooooong time.  I was called 'Puff' at school sometimes...

Wyverns are smaller, have poisonous stingers on their tails, don't hoard gold, don't talk, and are generally stupid.

Pterosaurs are more like birds.

Smaug is a dragon.  He might as well be a four-legged one, because he uses his wings as forelegs, which is something wyverns don't seem to do.

There is nothing required for a dragon to have six limbs.

As far as the "magical fire-breathing pterosaur" comment... I'm just going to pretend you're joking.

I have a statue of an eastern type (long, doesn't breathe fire, controls aspects of weather, and are very intelligent, lack wings, yet can fly) dragon with six legs.

I also happened to be in a bad mood (due to mostly unrelated reasons) when I made my last post :V So... apologies for coming across a little... angry? XD

Though ironically I recently got done being annoyed at people calling Smaug a wyvern purely based off of the number of his limbs and not because of any of the other factors that make a dragon a dragon and a wyvern a wyvern.

Though if you ask me, wyverns should be classified as a type of dragon to begin with... but that still doesn't make Smaug a wyvern XD He's still a drake to me :V

All of the above, all at once, from every conceivable side.  If I am to die, it will be glorious, and if I win, I'll be atop a pile of a horde of dead dragons whose souls I've consumed; win-win in the most awesome way possible.

Also, found a place to get the soundtrack to one of my favourite games of all time: The Darkness.  I am a happy beaver!

Oh, also, I get to use my quantum armour from Minecraft (specifically, IC2).  After all, if they take flight, I want to be able to leap on to them and catch the cowards before they can flee.
