I would point out TD even on a picture of someone holding a paintball gun. It's important, no matter who it is and what the purpose is. It's important, especially if it's something that will be seen by a lot of people.

Not maintaining TD even for a fake gun is what causes accidents with real guns. Usually by impressionable children and teens.

That's the "immature laughing kids" meme.  Basically, it's the reaction whenever anyone makes low-brow body humor, such as barfing, farting, and "that looks like a butt!" kinda stuff.

Trigger discipline. The fact that it was my first problem with the picture is rather telling. It's a knee-jerk reaction, I admit.

I'm not a gun enthusiast (never even fired one, or taken any kind of gun safety course), but my eyes automatically go to a person's trigger finger whenever I see a picture of someone pointing a gun.

It might just be a subconscious thing for people to do, even if it's a picture. Given the type of society we're in.

Maybe in the US, but we don't really have a gun culture up here and firearms are generally less of a fear than knives. Plus I didn't really start looking for it until I spotted the odd post about gun safety online. Now TD is one of the first things I notice in a picture.

Point is, if someone who doesn't use firearms, has no real interest in them and hasn't taken a gun safety course knows gun safety better than someone who actually owns a weapon, there's something seriously wrong.

I meant more like people default to finding if someone is threatening (or trying to be) or not. A sheathed sword isn't as threatening as one that is in hand, for instance.
