...That's dangerously close to Godwin's Law.  Why do you say the NRA is racist?

Nope, no racism here. Damn race-baitin' libruls!

Our little Creampuff was snarkin' at UP with those, I believe.

Can a president even possibly commit treason? Wouldn't that involve going against himself?

I was, in fact, snarking at Ultie and his tendency to say "Hey, what's wrong with Tea Baggers/MRAs/etc? They have some good points!" And "our little creampuff" is the cutest nickname I've ever had UwU.

Were any of those done by the NRA?  There are certainly some racists who oppose Obama just because he's black, but that doesn't mean that all opposition to his policies is based on something that petty.

Ahem.

In all seriousness, I'm not sure what you're trying to prove here, Ultie. No, not everyone who dislikes Obama is racist, but a fair portion of them are. The perception of Obama as a bad president or a bad person gives racists and people who benefit from racism lots of scandal fodder (such as the manufactured outrage that ensued when a Marine held his umbrella during a speech or the various pictures floating around claiming he refused to cover his heart during the national anthem when " Hail to the Chief" is playing).

I'm getting sick of this.  I'd have to say the majority of the more vitriolic criticisms of Obama have less to with his race, and more to do with his party.  Or have you forgotten the shit the democrats used to say about Dubya?

What, that he led the country into not one but two unnecessary conflicts in the Middle East? Or that started many of the programs that are now somehow Obama's fault? Yeah, every tray of fudge has its nuts, but your continued insistence of "we're not all like that!!!! dems have said stupid stuff too!!!!!" is what's pissing me off. I think you're trying to be a gadfly/conservative's advocate, but from where I'm sitting you just look like a troll.

You could reasonably say those are legitimate criticisms, yes.  However, you also have some stuff that is complete bollocks.  Look at all those bullshit conspiracy theories about how he "stole" either of his elections.  Look at the morons who compared him to Hitler.  Look at the idiots who claim he lied about Iraqi WMDs (before you say anything, there's a big, big difference between being incorrect and being dishonest).  And let's not forget that much of the economic crisis can be blamed on Reagan and Clinton, but somehow he got the lion's share of the blame.  Bush was far from perfect, but he wasn't the monstrous ignoramus you claim him to be.  Face it, as much as you would like to pretend, Democrats are not above the simplistic neo-tribalism that seems to characterize far too much of modern politics.

I'm going to have to agree with Paragon.  Doubly so because if someone's black or a woman and is a Republican, it's fucking open season on them.  Double standards, and all that shit.

"Remember, it's only okay to criticize people if they're not part of my political party or don't share my views." Alternatively, "You can only criticize someone if you're in the same party as them!"

Does this mean some of the more stupid/sensationalized criticisms of Obama are automatically justified?  Of course not.  Does it mean there are no racists in the Republican party?  Hell no!  Thing is, when someone says something stupid about the President, there are often better ways to attack it/write it off than to just say "Oh, you're just a racist so I'm automatically not going to listen to you."

Yeah, that's one thing that must be pointed out.  Not every conservative woman is Phyllis Schlafly, and while I may disagree with Herman Cain on a lot of things, there's no evidence that he's a self-loathing black man.  Out of touch with racial issues, yes, but not self-hating.

Look at all those bullshit conspiracy theories about how he "stole" either of his elections.

For the first time in my life, I agree with something Ultimate Paragon said.

The general consensus is that Bush may possibly have stolen the 2000 election but definitely won in 2004. And yet a lot of people, including some members of this forum (or former members from the old days) insisted that Bush definitely stole the 2000 election and almost certainly stole the 2004 one as well. And they treated it as though it was absolute fact.

Thank god most of those left us long ago.

Honestly the 2000 election was stolen by the SCOTUS.  As for the 2004 election, he won that one fair and square.

Ironbite-Obama on the other hand has clearly won both elections he's been in fairly.

Look at the idiots who claim he lied about Iraqi WMDs

Yeah! Accusing the president of something he, objectively, provably, did! What assholes! That's exactly the same as making up a bunch of racist lies about someone!

It would be quite hard to find an elected executive anywhere in the world that was as vicious, ignorant, hubristic and ultimately disastrous as the Bush administration. I don't think there was a single area of policy that they didn't both deliberately corrupt and accidentally fuck up in equal measure at least fifty million times. They couldn't even order around rescue choppers without fucking it up, blaming someone else and trying to profit politically.

Well, where's your evidence?  If Dubya did lie about the WMDs, you'd think it would be the biggest presidential scandal since Watergate.  And yet, there's nothing.

I agree, Bush fucked up more than is acceptable.  However, there were a number of elected regimes that were just as bad, if not worse.

-Hugo Chavez
-Vladimir Putin
-Robert Mugabe
-Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
-Ferdinand Marcos

I could go on, but I won't.
